This sucks

NOTE: As of 5 p.m., due to extreme fire behavior and heavy smoke/high winds, evacuations are now mandatory for area private and recreation residences, as well as all fire personnel in the fire area!
More info will be posted as it becomes available.

Dang that\'s a bummer.

Brad was there a lot of beatle kill in the area?

More bad news.
The wind switched and the fire went east - its at 3800 acres now - crossed a country road and now on Independence Mtn

It is just loaded with beetle kill, both standing and fallen.

dang..... its fire season.....!

I think it is a little early but this could be a bad year for some areas. I started looking for plan C,D areas yesterday. I hope they are not needed.

All I can say is it better stay away from Unit 2 or I\'ll be renting a pumping truck and taking some FMLA(Family Medical Leave Act) time off!!

Yes that would SUCK!!!

Hope the hunting area\'s for ya\'ll is safe... Also hope no one has problem with their homes and lively hood...

One good thing at least it\'s early in the fire season and if you do have fire in you hunting area it should have a bit of time to start recovering and will be much better in the years to come... Ya gota think positive... :upthumb: :upthumb: :upthumb:

Hope everyone out here stays safe, and things work themselves out.

Sitting in a Hotel outside Denver airport right now and it looks like lots of snow up high yet. Also rained for a quick bit probably not enough to do anything.

Bumping this back up just in case folks haven\'t seen it. Estimated containment is now well into October, so this could affect a lot of hunters. Be sure to check your areas to see if there are any road closures, even in Wyoming. This is in GMU 161 in Colorado, but don\'t be surprised if there are road closures elsewhere.

There is also another fire going just west of Boulder in the GMU 29/38 area. Hopefully they can get control of that one faster.

I was up in that country on Friday and took this pic at 2pm

From what I hear, they are just letting it burn to see how all the beetle kill burns and fire behaves with those conditions

Another popped up yesterday near Nederland. This one will be a far greater risk to the public as there are hundreds of homes in its immediate path. 2 homes lost already

More like 22,294 acres....
