OK, seems like there is a good amount of members in Colorado so I thought I would toss this out.

I am looking for a good, reputable repair shop for my son north of Denver. He is spending the summer in the Loveland, Windsor, Fort Collins area playing summer college baseball. His jeep is starting to have fuel pressure problems, and I am a thousand miles away. Can anyone recommend a repair shop in that area that will be honest and is good? I will be flying out there in 5 weeks but not sure if it will make it that long.

I will highly recommend Complete Auto Repair.
Ask for Jim.
He has doing my mechanic stuff for many years.
Reasonably priced, and knows his 4x4s.
He will give you an estimate before any work in done too.
I bought my GMC truck from him.
Tell him Brad K sent you.

Thanks for the response I didn\'t expect it so quick!!!

I see where they are located its not to far from him (hes visiting Horsetooth today) I will talk with him after his game tonight and see how its running and let him know we have a option now. I usually fix most the stuff myself, but trying to diagnose this 1,000 miles away and having him try to explain to me the symptoms isn\'t always easy. Just don\'t want a shop that sees the out of state plates and takes advantage of it.

Thanks again!!!

The jeep may be getting vapor locked.
Happens a lot when it get hot outside.
Is the jeep carbureted ?
If it is, there is something simple he can try to prevent vapor locking.
Clamp 2 - 3 wooden clothes pins on the fuel line just before it goes into the carb.
This will dissipate the heat and keep the fuel in liquid form and not turn it to vapor.

Good luck

Thanks for the ideas.

When it sits for a period of time it is hard to start, turns over takes a bit to fire. Sounds like it is loosing fuel pressure when sitting. I told him to turn the key on to engage the fuel pump, then turn it off and do it again to build pressure so it will start. He said it worked on his way to his game last night, but didn\'t work when it was over ( he had to crank it awhile). I told him to do it a couple to three times to engage pump to build up the pressure and let me know how that works. I was thinking the fuel pressure regulator is going bad or the fuel pump is starting to go. I didn\'t think about vapor lock on it with the heat will have to talk to him about that. Year and engine?

definitely sounds like youre losing fuel pressure. whether at the regulator or at the pump.

If it has OBD or OBDII Vatozone or O/Reilly should be able to hook up to it for a quick diagnostics. Jeeps have a brazillion followers so you should be able to get a code and figure out what it is. There are tons of fprums for fixing pretty much anything on a Jeep.

Remember, Jeep:

Just
Emptied
Every
Pocket

They ain\'t kidding. ;)

cnelk,

Looks like I will be calling your buddy Monday and making a appointment. My son says its getting harder, and harder to start and doesn\'t want to chance driving it. Good news is his summer baseball is over so he doesn\'t have to go anywhere important. I was hoping it would make it until we got it home and I could fix it but that\'s not happening. I\'m flying out there next month to drive home with him but with a 1,000 mile trip back I don\'t want to be stranded somewhere and I have to get him back to college here.

Will see what they find.
