Need new rain gear.

For all my rifle hunts I just carried a military issued poncho in my pack for rain gear, but it was on this last bow hunt I felt that it was too loud if I drew back my bow. So I\'m in the market for new rain gear. So far I looked at Frogg Toggs and I feel they were too noisy. I\'d like to get some Core 4 Torrent tops and bottoms but I\'d like to not spend that muck. I\'m open to all suggestions

I have used Frogg Toggs with good success. I dont wear it when it not raining and yes its a bit noisy but it works well.

I carry a Natural Gear rain jacket. Its quiet, but you gonna get wet in a day out in the the rain. Its for for the afternoon showers

If you want good, quiet gear, its gonna cost some $$$

I want to say my limit is $300. That is only cause my last resort is to go with the core 4 torrent tops and bottoms. Is definitely like to stay under $200 if feasible without sacrificing something like noise or durability.

KUIU.

i have the jacket. Chacuch (everybody needs a catchy name for their gear these days..appears there is a bonus if it is named after some inhospitable place) super rain resistance. good hood. i\'ve sat glassing for hours in a hard drizzle and stayed bone dry. i would have bought the pants, but my brother gave me a pair of patagonia military prototype pants that rock. feels similar in fabric to the chacuch.but they have full length zippers down the legs so i can put them on/off super easy without taking off my boots.

if you buy Kuiu..ASK FOR ANY AVAILABLE coupon code discount.!! it cant hurt, and i have been 100% successful with getting some money tossed out. i shop at the store tho..YMMV.

I also have the KUIU Chugach set and it works very well. It may be out of your price range at $270 for the jacket and $230 for the pants. I buy a lot of my gear during Black Friday, as a lot of companies will have sales. KUIU is typically around 15-25% off at Black Friday events.

KUIU also has released a new line called Teton, for those on a budget. I have no experience with that line, but thought I would throw it out for you to look at as well. The costs for the rain gear in this line are: $165 jacket & $130 pants.

i went to the black friday event. it was like a nascar race. the doors were to open at say 10 am. guys were lining up behind those velvet rope barricade things. one guy had binoculars looking into the tent set up in the parking lot with all the clothing. he had it all mapped out. the owner said a few words welcoming us and dropped the gate. we were like a bunch of women at a department store 75% off shoe party. it was insane!!! guys running, and just grabbing things. right sized or not. they just got stuff into their baskets. i got one single ball cap and a merino wool shirt for my brother. nothing for me. i had the wrong size shirt and had to trade with a guy with another wrong sized shirt. it was fun..kind of.

i\'ll pass on the next event..no thank you. i\'m slow..and my body is very regular sized. everyone needs the same size i wear. there were some smoking good deals.

Cliff, Much easier and safer online!

We used to drive to Nebraska for the Sidewalk Sales Cabela\'s put on. People would camp out for days. The first people in would just grab armfulls of gear and clothing and bring it back to their group\'s spot and have a mound of stuff. Most people were doing this and it was a joke in the end, as a few groups had mountains full of gear/clothing that they would hoarde and go through, while the rest of us peasants were left with the scraps. We stopped going - that was over 10 years ago, so not sure if it has changed - seems like the KUIU event is not that far behind in proceedure. Keep working out Cliff - and practice your boxing out skills - you can do it!

Back to the topic, Kryptek has a 40% off sale on their Closeout Cave. They have a few peices of raingear that is on sale. I\'ve heard good things about their raingear as well, but have never tried it. May want to give it a look as well.

I recently bought Gander Mountain TecH2O. Seems to work great so far, plenty quite. Heavier, but I don\'t Pack in 4-5 days. I also use it for an extra layer when cool out.
