I'm looking for a hunting partner living in the DFW area to plan a 2018 DIY Archery OTC Southern CO. hunt, 10 days all from backpack.
Experience is not as important as grit and positive attitude. Looking for someone who will put in just as much commitment to prep and the hunt as I am. Preferably someone living in the Dallas area. Ideally, would be nice to meet face to face before committing to a big hunt with someone.

First off, not in Dallas area and not interested in joining your hunt...HOWEVER, would like to help if possible.  Having lived in Colorado Springs the last 20+ years, I spent a lot of time in SW CO.  I currently bow hunt some private land around Alamosa and may could provide some input on your hunting area - if not already chosen where you're going.  Hunted unit 78 around Pagosa Springs a fair amount, and 681/82 which is further north close to Poncha Springs.

Plus, I lost all my grit in the Sangre De Cristo's when younger!!

I may have maps and such I could send if any help.  Send me a PM if detailed information that don't want posted here.  I'll share any intel I have that won't interfere with someone I know or more particularly someone that I like!  :)

Forgot to mention that I live in OKC area now so can meet if coming through this way.  Don't get to Dallas very often.

I've got that American grit as John Cena would say. I've always been a person to push myself past limits that would blow a knee out. Yup, kinda happen to on a lower level of the totem pole. I severely  hyper-extended my knee in a 15 mile obstacle course in the first mile but didn't give up and push thur it. (must have been a navy seal in my last life) So, the downside of this meet and greet situation is I'm Michigander. I know not the ideal circumstances, but positive attitude right? Besides I like meeting new people from all over and storytelling. I do have references of people that can speak highly of me from private land owners to friends and family.  Here's my dirty little secret I've never elk hunted. I'm sure some of the same principles may apply as whitetail hunting but I don't have room to say. I just wanted the experience of taking it in, meeting new people and learning a new art form of hunting. Don't  get me wrong tho. I'll pull my weight and keep things fare. Meaning if there a shit bag that needs to thrown out I can get my hands dirty. Gas is getting low I got this round. Or here man have some of this back strap. Well, gotta get my grit going now in this -9 weather and grill my family some dinner.

I live in Lewisville and have recently gotten back into hunting after a bit of a layoff. Was actually trying to plan a DIY hunt in S. CO (Mule Deer and Elk) this year and would be interested to connect and see if our plans might align. Feel free to e-mail me directly. Thanks

TBHasler, you might send Tim a Private Reply also - I think he sees an email that he has a message then logs in.  He replied to me that way.  I've offered to share what knowledge I have of Unit 78 and possibly some maps that I'll never use again.

Since I decided to shoot for a little better unit in az, my almost sure thing is now at 20-30% so I'll be working to plan a hunting trip to CO as a backup.  Mid march AZ draw results will determine my September fate, unless the NM computer messes up and pulls my number again.

I say this to throw out there that I'm open to anyone wanting to meet up with me here, there or yonder is welcome,  shoot me a PM.  If we don't jive for whatever reason I'll head off solo, but unless your loud, obscene, a know it all or a complainer, there are few folks i don't get along with.

About me:
Will be bow hunting, my schedule is very flexible, plan to take 2-4 weeks off.
Hunt dates flexible.

My elk hunting experience is that I hunted twice in NM and got one bull, but got nothing on CO except a few pref points, never stepped foot there.

I'm 48 need to loose some weight and starting to feel age but I still hunt daylight to dark.

I've been bowhunting "stilking " white tails since 1992

Have everything but a camper and wall tent. I plan to bivy from truck making loops but it's all dependent on elk.

Am looking for 3 YO + bull no trophy just personally would pass on a spike,  2nd to last day standards go far out the window.

It's all about being outdoors, the experience and the challenge.

Would enjoy calling in a bull for someone else as much as letting the string go myself.

If I tag early I'm staying with buddies if can figure / find place to store meat.

Don't mean to hijack thread.  Am just in same boat .
