For those that hunt NM, are there any good resources to finding out if roads and trails are public? I\'m looking at state forest mainly. National forest is pretty basic but some of those state roads are gated and or go through a residence? Any help is appreciated. On GE it marks some trails with a line and there are wheeler tracks there, but I can\'t determine if they are \"legal.\"

Barry,

A lot of the Rangers and ranger stations have these kinds of maps.
Let me see if I can find you a link.

If you PM me the forest you\'re looking at I may be able to grab you a map.

I ordered my maps from the US Forest service and the BLM office. The Blm maps can be a little tricky though roads close, property changes etc. but they will get you in the right direction.

Barry,

Like Dan mentioned, most forests have a link on the USFS site that will take you to their MVUM page. There you can few a map that shows road status (closed, 4x4, etc.) as well as the roads where ATVs are allowed. These maps also show the roads where dispersed camping is allowed within a certain distance from the road.
