i\'m heading out soon. AZ desert to:

1. chase deer. couse deer primarily, but i\'ll arrow a mulie with pride and a jubilant fist shake.
2. apparently freeze my ass off.
3. distant third is to take a javalina. :)

my friend just moved there and he said it is 20 deg in the city. that means single digits in the desert valleys. we need water to stay 9 days or so. i\'ve lived with frozen water..where you need to fill the coffee kettle the night before so you can just fire up the stove and melt it. what about the main supply? frozen 7 gallon jugs suck.

any water maintenance stately? black plastic bags to harness the day sun?

empty ice chest to fit all the 2.5 gallon water jugs. then at night lock it up and put in a nalgene boiling water in it.

i guess that is one way?

I would say try to keep the water in the sun during the day. It will take a lot for 7lbs of water to freeze, especially if it is getting some sun on it. We have never had a whole jug freeze up when hunting the rifle seasons in Colorado with very cold temps at times.
