I received my mule deer mount back and it took its place on the wall. I had the taxidermist keep the velvet on and leave the tears as is, as well as any hanging velvet. He then touched it up and added a little color to resemble the color from the time I harvested him. I\'m very happy with the mount and the new addition to the wall!

It looks like your taxidermist did a great job. You have a dandy addition for the already fine collection. Congratulations.

Thanks guys! Now I can look to upgrade - and hopefully add to the wall when my weighted CO species tags are obtained! :D

Gary, sorry for the late response - had to break out the ladder! The velvet that is hanging off of the bone feels like leather, where some portions are pretty rigid and some parts are plyable. The velvet itself if soft on the entire mount. I think it should be fine, as it is up out of reach where it it won\'t get touched or bumped.

Come Spring you may want to spray some Raid lightly over the antlers to keep any bugs away.
The velvet bull my son shot is being shipped today and it was recommended.
It was freeze dried
