I've been shooting an old mathews ultra light and want to upgrade. There's nothing wrong with my bow and in fact the local pro shop guy was shocked how well it shot on paper. Just probably time to upgrade thinking about the mission ballistic any thoughts?

I would go to your pro shop and shoot different ones and find what works best for you.  Shoot different brands.  You will find what works best for you.  Find a budget and shoot the ones in your price range.

Here is my two cents sir. I went through the same thing this last winter. I was shooting a switchback that I was deadly with. I went in, not looking at brand names and in a sense, let the bow choose me. There are a lot of great bows out right now in all different price ranges but what works for me may not work for you. I would say shoot everything, regardless of brand or price, narrow it down to four or five, then shoot them side by side and make up your mind from there. Listen to what others have to say and their experiences but choose what feels right to you.

I have the Mission Ballistic, I do not really care for it. I made a big upgrade from the Diamond I had, but it is very slow and heavy... I am looking at the G5 prime at this point I just have not brought myself to buy one yet. The nice thing I will say about the Ballistic is it feels good in my hand, but like I said IT IS REALLY SLOW, I have it maxed out and at 50-60 yards my arrows drop way more than I like...

Another thing to keep in mind would be to buy a fully set up bow that is a year or two old and gently used. There are a lot of great bows that were made in the last few years. Just another idea to get a great setup at a reduced price! Good Luck!

I agree with Elk Addict.  Its amazing how much money u can save buying last years perfectly good model.

I age as a well! I bought a Mathews DXT this year set up for under 400 bucks and could not be happier.

I'm shooting a prime impact. I love it super fast super super quiet. Not to heavy and way accurate. The try is silent on it and very smoothe I'm very impressed and excited to try it out on an elk in a cple weeks.

I echo Boom's reply. Let the bow pick you. I got picked by a Elite Answer this spring !

Thanks all! I would love to buy a used bow but a 31 1/2"draw length makes used bows hard to come by. I shot a hoyt charger today and really liked it.  Then I went and played with a mathews m7 and fell in love (sorry to my wife, you've not been replaced you'll just have to share ;D) now just have to figure out how to get the wife to let me bring my new love home...........
