About to head to the bow shop and test out a few bows. I have my eyes on the PSE dream season DNA. Anybody have this bow or have shot it. If so what'd you think. Also got my eyes on a cple Mathews bows but don't really want to hop on that band wagon. Any info or any other good bow ideas let me know. I elk hunt primarily with a little deer here and there. Mostly spot and stalk. Had the prime impact I loved it just a bit lengthy at 35". Also it was a bit heavy packing around for miles everyday. Thanks guys. Horns are dropping get out scoutin!

check out the elite 32, i like the 35" length but they make it in a 32 as well there are a ton of great bows out there right now Bowtech has some nice rigs as well im not a pse fan of late but i loved the old nova back in the day

There are a lot of great bows on the market. I shoot a 2012 PSE Freak and love it. It was one of the few bows that really fit my long draw. By all accounts the dream season is a great bow, but I would suggest going to a good bow shop and try as many as you can with an open mind. Find the right fit and feel, wait a week and go try them again to be sure.

Don't forget to try out different releases too. I changed to a thumb release after testing out a few and I am happy with that too.

Good luck.

I'm looking to upgrade to a new bow this year as well (early wedding present to myself  ;) )

I've an '02 Hoyt UltraTec XT2000 twin cam, and am looking at the '14 Faktor

I recently picked up the Carbon Overdrive by Bowtech, I wanted a light yet fast bow and this meet and exceeded what I wanted, extremely happy with this purchase.

my suggestion is get brand out of the picture go shoot as many as you can and find what fits you every company has there thing like every man has a preference. its the bow that fits you not you that fits to the bow.

Shot Mathews and Hoyt for years. Primarily I elk hunt. Went bow shopping this year after getting caught drawing twice last year.  What I was looking for was this.  By Priority:
1. Accuracy
2. Let off
3. Smooth draw
4. Non-jumpy cams
5. Speed
6. Light weight
7. Dead in hand.

I shot the 2014 Hoyt lineup, the PSE DNA SP, Mathews lineup, Prime Alloy, and Elite Energys.  Came down to Mathews ChillR and Elite Energy 32 for me.  The let off and ability to hold full draw for what seems like hours sold me on the Elite.  It was actually 2 FPS faster than the Chill R with my hunting setup.  The only negative to the Elite is the weight although I didn't really notice a major difference in any brand. All real nice bows though.
If your thinking about the PSE and you like it, go for it.  Those DNA's are fast and nice to shoot IMHO.  Just wasn't quite what I was looking for. No matter what you choose you can't go wrong.  It's amazing what has come about in just the 3 years since my last bow. Good luck.

If you're set on a pse , then go with what you're into. But I would suggest trying the elites. When at full draw and that buck or bull hangs up behind a tree, you can completely relax your draw arm till the animal steps out. Plus they are super quiet, tunable, fast, medium on the weight. Hope you find what you're looking for, best of luck this fall

Cowboy is spot on. Don't shop by brand. Let the bow pick you ! I was picked by the Elite Answer last spring  : )

I agree with most answers, let the bow choose you,  however, dont over look bear, and obsession,  they have some great bows out this year.  Myself I'm still shooting a bowtech insanity, dont care for the weight but the KE i get from this beast is over 100#, I dont worry about hitting an elk in the shoulder, it wont have one if I hit it.

I'm not set on anything. That's why I'm asking. I've never shot a pse before so by far have my mind set on pse. I'm just interested in the dream season and was asking if somebody has had an opportunity to play with it. I'm very open minded when it comes to choosing a new bow. There are lots of great ones these days. I will make it to a bow shop shoot a bunch and make my decision based off of that.

If you liked your Impact then you should check out the new Prime Alloy.  Shorter ATA and lighter than the Impact.  You still get the Prime solid back wall, no cam lean and very accurate.  I shot the Prime Defy last year because I thought the Impact was too heavy, but this new Alloy is incredible.  Just something to consider.

I just got a Bowtech Carbon Overdrive that is making me smile every time I pick it up.

Picking up my new 2014 Hoyt Carbon Spyder Turbo Friday.  Cant wait to hit the woods next week for bear season.

+1 ^^

I couldn't agree more. Find the bow that you like and that you enjoy.  It will help you be more successful down the line. I shoot a PSE Hammer and I really like it.  I have friends that shoot Hoyt, Bear, and Matthews.  Shoot what you like.
