Looks like a good elk packer. ;)
now you are talking like dan. with any luck, and good training, thats what i would love for him to do. now all i need to do is get the other two in shape to carry our butts up and down the mountain...

I know nothing about horse\'s, but have heard that if you take a flatlander horse into high elevation you could kill them. May want to talk to your vet before you take them.

john, he is mid teens. he looks like a colt compared to my other 2 tenn walkers. he is an arab/qh mix. his arab definitely sticks outs when he runs, or should i say prances, with his tail stuck straight up. he is fast and hardly looks like he trying..... the other 2 were establishing the pecking order today and looked like they were trying real hard to catch him
i am not sure of the specifics, but i would want to take a horse out into the mtns if it had been worked and was in shape. mine are neither so far.....

I absolutely love Arab/QH mixes. We have two, and I\'ll stack them against any horse. We use them for endurance rides ... and between the two of them, they have something near 3000 competitive miles on them. and Arab/QH is the best mix ... mind of a QH, and heart of an Arab!

You should enjoy covering some big ground with him. Personally, I haven\'t seen horses have a great deal of difficulty with altitude. Humans, and cattle have a lot of trouble. Dogs and horses do much better. My wife is more of an expert about that, but I\'ve seen in-shape Arabs come from near sea-level to 10,000\' and compete in 50 and even 100 mile races and do well.

I think the only thing that would make me think of something other than an Arab/QH mix is this little Paint/Paso Fino Mule a friend has for sale. A gaited paint mule ... flashy, for sure. It would be built for comfort and confidence rather than flat out speed, but I\'m getting to the point of life where comfort and confidence are more important!

Nioce looking horse!

I had a arab/QH mix horse, in fact your horse reminds me of her.
She was a great horse, you name it I did it with her.
I bought out to Colorado from Minnesota in the \'80s and she carried me many hours hours thru elk hunting areas

Here she is - 20 yrs old [mid 90s] - packing a whole 5x5 elk out - bones and all

here is a better pic of him that I took yesterday when I checked on him in the pasture. we went out again today. the neighbor girl came with and got him loping around the barrels. we also got him measured, 13.3 hands. I myself was working on establishing better leadership with my ten walker.

for you guys who trailer your horses, how far do you go before you stop and give the horses a break outside of the trailer?
