The department will begin accepting online draw applications at 10 a.m. January 10th. The application deadline for bear and turkey permits is 5 p.m. February 7th. The application deadline for big-game licenses is 5 p.m. March 21st. See the 2018-19 New Mexico Hunting Rules & Info.

Hunters need to file harvest reports from last season?s hunt to be eligible for the 2018-2019 draw.

GET THOSE HARVEST REPORTS DONE!!!!
I'm so antsy and ready to apply!!!!

FYI NM bear and turkey applications need to be in by Feb 7th!
That'll come up quick

How quick do you find out if you draw a tag in NM Dan?

I believe the draw is April 25th this year.
Sometimes back doors show up, but it's not every year.

So you find out the results on April 25th? Or that's when they draw and then you wait a few days for it to be posted? Sorry, I'm so used to Colorado and the draw date has nothing to do with when you see results.

April 25th is when you will know.
They will draw a weekish out.

Sometimes they are crazy and post the results at random times a few days early.
Last year expected results were April 26th and they posted them April 12th.. I'm pretty sure NM broke the internet that day haha

DTP, for you and all of those that missed the Feb 7th deadline, don't worry too much. That deadline was for Special Draw areas that really only encompass about 4 or 5 Units.
You can get Bear & Turkey OTC licenses for the rest of the state online prior to your hunt.

NM Turkey OTC seasons:
Spring - April 15th - May 10th (bag limit - 2 birds)

Fall: (Bag limit - 1 bird)
September 1st-30th (bow only)
November 1st-30th (any weapon)
*Special Note: A hunter that does not harvest during the bow season may then hunt during the November hunt with any weapon.

NM Bear OTC seasons:
August 16th-31st (In some areas) Any legal weapon
September 1st-24th  Bow only
September 25th to November 15th or 30th (depending on zone) Any legal weapon

Happy Hunting !

I drew the VV turkey tag last year and was SO excited to go check it out. Then Uncle Sam had some different plans for me, so I wasn't even in the country during the hunt. I hope to draw it again sometime.

Just bumping this because it's less than 3 weeks from the application deadline

Buy an OTC turkey license and go to Sugarite Canyon (archery only) just east of Raton. Two bird limit. You won't be disappointed.

You know, I'll be honest... I traveled all over NM, but I never made it up to that area of NM.    I really need to check it out. Thank you!
