One new feature that we added is the ability to share popular and useful posts with Facebook and Twitter friends. If you see information that you\'d like others to know, click on either the Facebook icon and/or the Twitter icon. They can be found at the top middle of every post.

Thank you for helping us get the good word out.

I\'ll have very littl\' to say or show anymore if anyone can share my post on facebook or twitter... :silent: :silent:

not a facebook fan.I would prefer that anything that i post not be posted on either of the two sites please! I\'m not on these sites for a reason, if I find out that my post are going on these sites I will be done posting here also.

It sounds as some don\'t like the idea. I too am not on either site and wish to have none of my posts posted on them.

One of the big challenges of a new forum is getting new members. This is definitely a way to increase membership; Facebook and Twitter have a base of Millions of hunters that could potentially become members.

Without Sponsors, the bills do not get paid. Without members, it is very tough to draw Sponsors, they will not want to Sponsor a Forum with just a hundred members or so. Trust me, I\'m not a Sponsor because here because I think I\'m going to get rich selling gear...I\'m doing it because I love you guys so much ;)

Just my two cents.

Maybe its a feature that the mods can use, but not the general membership? This way individual posts don\'t appear on facebook or twitter but rather links to a specific topic or discussion? It would still allow for exposure over these social network sites but eliminate the option for specific individual posts to be highlighted.

Eitherway, this site and discussion points therein are easily found by searching for topics via google, bing, yahoo, etc. and given non-members can view without being registered there is no 100% way of keeping these posts private, it is considered a public discussion board after all.

Just my 2 cents. It doesn\'t bother me which ever direction admin chooses to go.

I like it! :upthumb:

While we are here let me just say this that all need to know....

It was brought to my attention last fall that from ANY photo or video posted anywhere on the internet the location of that photo or video was taken is available to those that know how to get it... I\'m not smart enough to do it or tell anyone how and even if I was I wouldn\'t, but there are folks out there that are and will...

So... Unless ya want the location of ya photos or videos known, ya need to take security measures to stop those folks... I\'m not totally convienced that ya can totally secure the location of ya photos and videos yet...

With that said, if ya use photobuckect as I do, ya can click on ya user name, then click on \"user settings\", then click on privacy... Ya will see \"Content Privacy\".. Make sure the \"Show where my photos were taken\" is not checked and the \"When I upload, permanently remove information about where my photos were taken\"... This may and I say may keep the location ya photos and videos were taken ya knowledge only...

So if ya don\'t mind anyone and everyone knowin\' where ya camp or where ya kill what ya are huntin\' is up to ya... Or ya need to figure out how to secure ya photos and videos ya post...

With my photos that are susposed to be secure I still want post any that would effect the places we hunt...

Just a warning since this happen year before last and last year in the public area we hunt duck in Arkansas... Thats the reason I don\'t like facebook or twitter since that is were this started...

Like I told John in PM\'s we exchanged that was just me but we work to hard to find places to hunt to have there location sold by someone that\'s never been there or seen it...

Whoa...hold on there, Chicken Little! Damage control... the sky is not falling just yet.

The only way that information can be embedded into a photo, is if it was taken with a smartphone, or a camera with gps capabilities.

Don\'t know about you, but my smartphone is pretty worthless where I hunt elk, so I take all my stills and video with a separate, non gps camera.

So, taking hunting photos with a smartphone may not be so \"smart\". If you feel the need to do this, simply disable the geotagging feature from your smartphone, here\'s a link to instructions: http://gcn.com/articles/2012/12/10/how-to-disable-smart-phone-geotagging-feature.aspx

And of course the obvious...don\'t take photos with obvious landmarks that folks might be familiar with. Just trying to help educate :angle:

Thanks for lettin\' me know that... All we use are smartphones to take our pictiures... I\'ll disable my smartphone and have all the folks that hunt with to do the same with theirs.... Sorry for any misinformation...

No Problem, hopefully others will do as you are doing. Hard enough to keep a good hunting spot, without that kind of thing going on!

I looked on the link and had to do somethin\' different that what it said for Iphone 4 & 5... The others might be right but ya just have to try um and see... Here\'s what ya do...

iPhone 4 and 5

3.Select Location Services
4.Set Camera to ?Off

Re post: Does it make a difference to know that it doesn\'t actually post the information, only a link to the forum?

So the user will click on the Facebook icon and then given the oppertunity to type something about the link reference. (i.e. great information of tree stand hunting) No info is stored on Facebook, just the link. Anyone still see this as a problem?

I see no difference in a \"lurker\" randomly coming on this site viewing the posts, or somebody who arrives here by link from Facebook or Twitter. And as I mentioned before, it opens up the opportunity for that person to become a potential member.

Just my opinion...If you do not want the World viewing your ramblings, you shouldn\'t post them here, as this is a public forum just like social media.
If you have some illusion all your posted information is somehow limited to just the members of this forum, or folks involved in a specific thread, you are mistaken!

x2 for me...anyone can view this forum at any time. Think of it this way guys: more members means more information :D

I understand that anyone can come to this site and see our posts. I also know that if this site grows bigger and bigger things will change. Trust me it will be more work for the administrator and moderators to keep the site the way they intended on it being. I have been a member of a couple that this has happened to. One was closed down and reopened with a new name and only the long time members in good standings were told about the new site. It is a lot of work keeping the peace and the bigger the site the more work. I am all for growth but let it grow on its own.

This is just my opinion for what it is worth..........

On the other foot...I have seen quite a few sites stagnate and go nowhere, to the point where just a few key members are \"keeping it alive\". In my business, I have to monitor hunting forums for possible sales activity, so I have been associated with dozens of them over the last 5 years.

This particular site had an initial period of growth, and then \"hit the wall\". It is currently not growing significantly, and hasn\'t in a while. This is not a good sign IMHO.
