Hey guys....I got this link from a good friend, otcwill, who many of you know. Many of you have probably seen me on other forums but I wanted to join this forum so maybe I can learn how to kill an elk. :angle: This year was my first trip elk hunting and it pretty much ruined my life. LOL! My wife would probably tell you it ruined hers actually. Anyway....I am hoping to pick up some tips from you guys and possibly put my tag on an elk sooner rather than later. I have killed lots of stuff with my bow and many times get completely consumed in bowhunting. I am afraid I am going to go through one of those periods because I have the elk bug.

Welcome to the site, Mark.

You don\'t need us or the site, you have Will!
He\'s probably the best weapon to have. Do EVERYTHING he does and you will be set :upthumb:

Glad to have you here.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.

What is your hunting experience?

Elk hunting is dangerous and takes over your life :D

Howdy Mark - Welcome!

So you know Will eh??
And you came here to learn about killing elk?

Heck, we all hover over our keyboards and hit F5 in hopes that Will posts something!!! :)

A few things are certain.
Death, Taxes and otcWill killing elk~

Anyway, we are glad to have you and look forward to you sharing your hunting experiences with us!

I started bowhunting in 1988. I killed my first whitetails in 1989 with my bow. It was a pretty surreal hunt as I actually filled both of my buck tags on the same morning only minutes apart. I shot 2 young 8 pt whitetails and from that day on I have been addicted to bowhunting. I have killed around 60 Whitetails with my bow, quite a few Eastern Wild Turkeys, a few bears, antelope, coyotes and a handful African critters. My addiction to whitetails in general is the reason why it took me so long to get out west to hunt. I was so infatuated with trying to kill big bucks that I had blinders on for many years and only wanted to hunt deer.

You can say that again. Will on elk is like Cholera in your water system. Both of them are killers. LOL!

So far I really like this site as it seems to have a bunch of great guys posting here.

This is not my best buck but one of my favorite pictures. I have the best tracking crew that a guy could ask for.

Welcome Mark good to have you here.

Great looking tracking crew you got there. :upthumb:

Welcome to the forum Mark. It sure looks like you have a great pair of camping buddies and maybe future hunting partners.

Thanks guys. They really are pretty good trackers. It is amazing how well they see blood. Of course they are only about a foot from the ground when they are bent over tracking. The oldest one is 10 and loves to bowhunt. She has bowhunted turkeys for 3 years and this is her second bow season deer hunting. She hasn\'t connected yet but she is a really good shot and a real hard hunter. I am hoping she gets it done this year. The young one shoots too but she is so much smaller that she is going to be years behind her sister before she is able to hunt as she can\'t pull much weight. My oldest shoots a 32# Hoyt Ruckus and 2 blade Buzzcuts.

Whitetail hunting is my absolute passion as well. It still takes my life over and always will.
Elk however has grown into my life and is SO MUCH FUN. The two hunts are so different from each other and are both so fun in their own way.

That\'s very impressive on your 60 whitetail with a bow!
You sound like you and FM have very similar track records.

Now you have me thinking about big bucks and I know I won\'t be able to sleep..... :upthumb:

Great to see ya here, brother! Best group on the web right here. You\'ll fit right in!

Hello Mark, Glad to see you here and we will look forward to hearing about this years deer season!

Welcome Mark! Some pretty serious elksters frequent this forum. Take a few notes or hitch a ride with Will. Either will eventually help you to punch an elk tag.

Welcome Mark! A couple things,

1) Be suspicious of that Swede guy(aka Hootie).
2) Don\'t let that iccy guy be so humble. He\'s an elk killer for sure!

  :p
