Ok, we know that Elk prefer the North slopes...How about the more open country, coulees and draws with springs and water? I?m thinking I may be doing a lil more spot and stalk than calling with some of the area I?ve been looking at... :dk:
Elk are plains animals so all of that is possible. The key is to understand where the pressure is coming from as they will always move away from that. I have spotted elk as they were making their way back up the mountain following the coulees after eating in the ranchers hay field in the valley overnight. Then bedding down a couple of miles up the hill after that.
