Got the go ahead to purchase a leftover cow tag (about $275) to go with my WY deer tag. There probably isn\'t as many elk as where I hunt in CO, but plenty to make an exciting hunt out of it. There is a resident herd on the ranch we are hunting but the rancher hasn\'t decided if he would let us harvest one. However, enough public land and elk in other areas. My friend got a 5 pt. a couple years ago.
So, the elk hunt is BACK ON! 800 miles closer to home and a deer tag and cow tag for the same price as my CO elk tag. Things are looking up. Was feeling good so went for a 3.5 mile walk with a 50# pack. Time to start shooting.
