Hello,
I'll be hunting the Central Oregon Coast this fall (early and late archery seasons) and would love some tips on how people plan hunts in the old growth/ mature sitka/cedar/fir forests.

Does anyone have experience with that country?

Welcome to the site DriftC!  :welcome:

I personally haven't ever hunted there, but one thing I would check out if you haven't already is the Destination Elk series on YouTube. Corey and Donnie hunted out there and if I remember correct, they gave quite a few tips on how to hunt that type of terrain as it was new to them as well.

First and foremost I wold go ahead and invest into onXmaps, or have a genuine understanding of private timber lands vs public forests. Honestly the only elk I've run into on the coast were either in the deepest darkest hell holes, or on some farmers open field near the coast line. So id be sure to be in decent shape.

Watch old school Born and Raised footage. However, they pay the timber companies to get onto their land. its up to around $300 or so now I believe. Which is equivalent to what it costs to go Eastern Oregon. :). Have fun!
