Would it be tacky if I paint my new rifles stock?
Nothing fancy like hydro-dipping or anything wild.....just some good rattle can work and then throw a protective coat on that.

Thoughts?

i wouldnt, but thats a personal decision. if they are close enuf to see your stalk, they should be seeing the business end. if i was doin it for looks i would hydrodip. but again, those are personal preferences.

I\'ve done it before. Just depends on what look you are going for. One of the coolest I did was just use a sea foam sponge with a grey paint and dab it on a black stock. Got a look similar to the Gunwerks rifles:

I\'ve hunted with a black stocked rifle and shotgun for year...

For the rifle, if they see it it\'s way to late to react and the shotgun I would thing the same thing....

It\'s just like the camo and shorts thing.... If it works for you then do it... :D :D

I tried the dip thing once. Didn\'t like it at all. There are some good paint ideas on youtube.

I think it looks great.

But.... I\'m not so sure I would even wear camo rifle hunting. Darn positive my rifle doesn\'t need it.

I rattle canned an AR once. first layer was desert tan, and it looked WAAAAY cool. (to me at least)

I continued adding small patches of grey, brown, green, black til it was fully pimped.

That sounds awesome! Very similar to what I would do. :upthumb:

Like I said, look on youtube. Some of those guys came up with some patterns that were even better than the dip kits. Check it out.
