I sold that Hawkin!

If you remember I had it built because my third draw choice of three for mule deer hunting was a 100% draw chance. (the primitive muzzy hunt)
Well, I ended up drawing my #1 pick, so I had no reason to use it....

But I sent it off to a good home and gave him a really good deal on it.

It certainly was a beautiful gun!

Well, it was your gun to do as you please. Sorry to see you not doing any muzzleloading hunting though. There\'s always next year?

I sold my Pedersoli Frontier gun too. I can\'t fight the fact that my vision is too bad for open sights anymore. So, I bought a new CVA Accura MR with Nitride finish, and put a 1.5-4.5X scope. I\'ll just leave it on 1.5x for my style of timber hunting. At least the sight and target are in focus now. Better for me and the game.

I still have an application in for another muzzleloader hunt Pete, but it\'s not an old school hunt.
If I draw then I can buy something a little newer.

It was a beautiful gun and exactly what I would have needed, but when I didn\'t draw it and my buddy did, it just seemed right to pass it on to him.
He will take care of it too.

Any pictures of your new gun?

You\'ll have to send me a camera. You\'ve seen them no?

You\'d like it. 6 1/4lbs, and shoulders perfect. For me anyway. Really accurate too. The only thing with this model is it has a high comb for a scope. It\'s not even drilled for open sights.

Are you planning on using that during the rifle season Pete? I assume so since you can\'t use scopes on muzzleloaders in CO, correct?

Yes, i\'ll use it during rifle seasons. Although in my case I could use it for muzzy season too. The DOW gave me a special license to use a scope in ML season, because of my lousy vision. I\'ve never used it in the past, but I might be tempted to now. It never seemed fair to the other ML hunters to use a scope when they can\'t. So, I tried to stay with open sights as long as possible. I can\'t do it anymore.

What I like most about hunting the rifle seasons with a ML is the no restriction on bullets. So, i\'m going to use the saboted Barnes bullets. That will bring me closer to the advantage that rifle hunters over me using a ML. They still have an advantage for long shots, but at the distances that I hunt they really don\'t have much if any.

I have this mz. I had to shim up the sights in order to use it. I wanted a short light rifle for the mtns.....

I have a CVA Accura in the stainless steel with a black stock. It has the Bergera barrel and shoots nice. It is a lot lighter than my old Hawken.
