It seems like everyone has come back from the woods, so I wanted to make this thread now before rifle hunters head out and before a lot of whitetail start falling.
We all put lots of time into prepping our bodies, planning out hunts, and then hunting our hardest.
Even with all of that, we still are not always able to fill tags.
BUT, this thread is for those who do fill tags in the future.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE learn from my mistake.... this is the second time now.
This thread is regarding your post harvest pictures and how important it is to take a few extra seconds to really capture your trophy.
I went on my second elk trip ever this year and was able to harvest my second elk. A nice 6x that I worked VERY hard for and what do I do....?
Take the trashiest and nastiest pictures ever. A lot of which you haven\'t and will never see. Luckily I sent them to Brad before I really put them out and he recommended that I think twice about posting them, and I AGREE.
This is not the first time I did this either.....
My first bow kill ever, I took a few extra minutes and posed it right and took a pic. Same thing with my second kill and my third.
My issue started with my monster buck last year and now this elk.
I spent over 7 months of hunting hard, scouting, and prep work to put down my buck last year and I maybe have 2 good pictures to show for it.... none with me in it.
Same thing for this years elk. I started scouting early summer, worked out so I was in top shape, hunted my tail off, and then take horrible pictures.
Its very upsetting and I just hope you can all learn from my mistake.
Take the few extra minutes and take some nice pictures. These will in fact be your memories that you\'ll have forever.
Clean up some blood, put the tongues back in the mouth, prop them up nice, etc.
Those few extra seconds will certainly pay off in the long run.
No need to respond, I just wanted to throw this out. I shot two book animals the past two harvests and have no good pictures to show for it.... that is an issue.......
This will not happen again for me.
