Portable blinds

Ok so this year I\'m considering using a DIY portable blind for deer or elk. Simply I want to carry some bungee cords and camo burlap sheets to set up for when I sit on a water hole. Does a blind need to sit out for awhile so animals get used to it?

For elk no just keep the wind in your favor. Deer are more fussy. I have shot deer out of pop up blinds the day I set them up but all so have had them totally blow out of there the instant they see the blind. This was using a pop up blind. Making your own I feel that you can blend it in better and have less of a problem with them noticing it.

Thanks for the reply, thats what I was thinking about too. Deer have always seemed more cautious than elk.

Elk never know it\'s there. Deer however hate them. Or definitely are uncomfortable. I\'ve actually had deer see it too tho from 300 yds while on a field edge in the woods & it freak them out & head back to the woods to only have them circle & sneaking in 10 minutes later to see what it is. This happened this year with a group of 4 bucks. After you leave it awhile they\'re better with it, if you never get busted at it!
