Whether it\'s a picture you took or one you found online.

Please post a picture and a brief reason why that is your ideal wallow.
It would be interesting to see if we are all looking for the same stuff or not.

It might also benefit us new guys. I am sure any of us can find a wallow, but we need to see the kind elk are hanging out in.

This little wallow has not been hit yet. It has numerous trails coming into it and is in a good passage way. Spring water is available and the stream is short. With a nearby bedding area this can be the spot to hang a tree stand when elk are in the area. This place does not look like much now, but it is one of the best spots I have found.
Note the old wood stand. I sat there many times as it appeared to have been abandoned. No one else used it. When I sat in that stand, nothing ever came in to the basin. The stand was too low to the ground. I found whenever I left the area, elk would come in, but never while I was there. I am convinced my scent filled that basin.

I wish I had pics of the little meadow I found at almost 10,000ft. Had two small wallows in it with elk trails leading in and out of the area. Also had trees torn to shreds. Come on April so I know if I drew a tag or not.

I have a several pics of wallows, but not very many are ideal.
They are usually in places where the wind favors the elk most of the time.
I do have one that is a good one, not so much the wallow, the the area nearby
I will see if I can find a pic of it

Here it is
We have called in many elk and killed a few of them in the vicinity of this wallow

My ideal wallow. Used that day!

Nice wallow JF! Looks like two of them?

Yes, it was a double wallow. Later in the morning we took the herd bull about 100 yards uphill. I plan to take your dad in there this summer. :shh:

Sweet. I\'m sure he will be giddy as a school girl looking at that. :upthumb:
I\'m kicking myself for not getting a pic of a few wallows I found last season. A few where just hammered. I got a better camera for packing this past Christmas so I\'m set now.

You going to join the scouting this summer?

I am sure hoping to! As usual I have more area to scout than I probably will have time to. I\'ve been eyeing an area for years and I am finally putting my foot down and going to check it out. That and I really want to explore a little bit more of the area I have been in the past few years. It is still very much new to me and I don\'t know it well. It is nasty terrain though....just what I like. That and I want to check out that area I talked to you about west of you. I definitely am looking forward to meeting you. I can tell there is a TON I could learn from you. I wish you were there for that herd bull I ran into in 2013. I know he was a pig...... he wouldn\'t budge but the 5pt satellite that was hanging out on the periphery sure looked good in the back of the truck. :dance2:
