Primos mouth calls

Went and bought the primos mini sonic dome (double) and hyper plate (double). I've never used primos mouth calls, thought I'd give em a try. I don't like either one. Maybe it's just me but I can't get anything from the hyper plate and the dome sounds terrible. I started out using hunter specialty, berry calls and right now I'm using carlton mouth reeds. I get great sounds from these calls. I've been using the mouth calls since the early 90's when I started archery elk hunting so I know how to use them, It's not like I'm a beginner. Wondering if anyone else has tried these calls and can give me some feedback. I realize I can just stick with what works for me but thought I'd try something different. Maybe I just threw away $12. Oh well, trial and error?

I us the same one and found the trick is to keep them at a 45 degree angle as opposed to straight. I place it as far forward as I can in the roof of my mouth as well. Hope it helps.

I loved the palate plate calls that Primos has but tried the sonic dome ones when they came out and never could get them to sound right.  I've been using the bugling bulls diaphrams for the last 4-5 years and the "Full Rut" diaphram works awesome for me.  I've found that every person has to find the diaphram call that fits their mouth best.

The mini sonic dome's are just to small. Maybe if a small kid was using it, it would work. I Do the same thing as jmart i find that angling the reed just a tad bit helps get more out of the reed.

Each of our palates are different and some calls just may not work for you...i am always trying different calls as well and find some reeds just don't produce for me, so i always go back to Berry Reeds and Bugling bull.

i personally cant use the dome or plate it is just way to uncomfortable in my mouth, so i called the guy i get my turkey calls from and he made me what i asked for and they performed great loved them. if your looking "Rush Calls" talk to Chad Morris he is a hell of a call maker and will work with ya. ;)

I have no problems with the domes, except the minis take a lot more practice to get just right. I had great luck getting the mini to sound like a young bull.  I like to grab calls from multiple builders because they all have such different tones, but I agree some take more work for me to get sounds I like out of them.

I have not used the primos calls but strictly use the Rocky Mountain hunting calls.  I have found that getting the right fit can make a big difference.  I have a narrow roof of my mouth and there are certain calls I have a hard time using.

I had the primos kit and got ths single, double, and triple. I did not like them so much because the plastic plate did not work for me.
