public lands access

It's my understanding that most of all USFS and BLM  grounds are currently off limits, correct?

If you are referring to the government shutdown, I would think no. check with the state wildlife agencies to be sure. I think the national parks are closed due to staffing at gates and rangers. but I would think the national forest are still open to the public.unless you needed some kind of permit for special use or something other than hunting or hiking. I am not a scoff-law, but who would enforce it? government employees.

Forest service lands and BLM are still open and patrolled by their respective law enforcement even with the government shutdown

thanks.  tried calling the area ranger districts and no one was answering phones...so...this is good news.

As stated above, public FS and blm lands are still open. However other recreation sites like national parks and campgrounds are closed because obviously gov employees are furloughed. And yes law enforcement officers are still actively patrolling on an emergency basis. I know this as my wife is currently furloughed as a blm employee and she was given the information from her supervisor.
