Questions for Biologists

Hi guys,
I'm new to Elk 101, and apparently have a lot to learn from you guys. I'm in the process of planning my Colorado OTC hunt and just had a few general questions.
For those of you that contact biologists while trying to pick a GMU or area to hunt, what kind of questions do you typically ask them?
What kind of maps do you guys use for scouting and during the hunt? I've got a garmin rhino 530 that I plan to use, but I'm not sure what maps to get for it. I also considered taking a paper map along. Any suggestions?
I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions later on, but I'll start there for now.

the types of questions vary from where should i go to where will most people not go but hold a lot of elk.
the hunt maps on here are great elk 101 store or google earth the state conservation department in co has some as well and USGS
