I had two work conferences in Texas (last week and upcoming).
My elk unit is approximately 10 hours from them so I took my fancy little rental car and blitzed up to the mountains.

It was the driest I?ve ever seen the place in all my years of hunting it...

No worries though.  Still saw plenty of healthy elk, deer, and turkeys.
I also found some sheds and got 5 cams hung. [emoji106]

I also got to stop at my favorite little gas station to get a breakfast burrito from heaven....

Looks like a great trip. I?m going to be in Colorado, Golden, next week. No time to work in a scouting trip this time.

Nice!  Getting after it and having fun.  Sure way to success!  Nice little bonuses finds there too!

That is a heck of a hunting rig Dan! Might need to trade in big blue for one of those?

Random question, but are the sheds going on the airplane with you? Carry on?

To be honest I?m not sure.... I?m leaving them at a buddies house and will pick them up when I drive out to hunt.

Looks like a blast!!

Off track a bit but talking about them antlers and taking them as carry on brings back a story my son told me last week. He works for the TSA at Denver and said a 80 year old lady wheeled up in a wheelchair and had a compound bow on her lap (uncased) and was insisting it was hers, and she was going to carry it on............

this is my old rig. Did You know you can fit 2 white tails, a hang on tree stand, a bow with case, tree stand ladder, and all your clothes and misc gear in such a small vehicle and still get 35 mpg?!

That thing is awesome, TheBigShow!!!

I honestly considered buying a "diversion" vehicle for when I hunt public land whitetails..... too many people are out there watching people's vehicles more than they are scouting deer.

I really want to do it right now because I am chasing a whitetail in FL that will gross over 165"....

I mean, no I'm not....  ;)

DTP

if you give me the lat and long of this so called animal I will travel to its location and make sure nobody but you shoots it🤞.But in hunting there is no guarantee that this animal will be there when you get there....

Good luck with your quest!
