So, I just picked up a new tow for myself (Tikka T3x lite in .270), and wanted to get some thoughts. I have always just used the standard scope mount and rings that come standard, but was wondering if there is any advantage to going with an aftermarket mount and ring setup. I plan on using a 3-12x 40mm scope. Just trying to get some thoughts and recommendations.

Most rings and bases will work fine, especially with a .270. I would just be sure to torque them to specs (if you have a torque wrench) and use blue Loctite to make sure the scope and base don\'t come loose.

They also have a purple loc tite now which is even weaker than blue. I used that on the rings and blue on the bases.

I shoot a rifle like yours and have had no problems with the ring and base combo that came with it... Mine is an older T3 Lite... Don\'t know what you plan on hunting with it but when I bought mine I planed on elk hunting with it... I\'ve kill a lot of deer with mine and shoot Remington Premium 130 gr Swift Scirocco ammo for now... That\'s what I was going to use for elk but I\'m using them for white tail until I use them all up...Before I started shoot them I used Winchester 130 gr Power Points... That was before the newer Winchesters loads came out...
