Looking for input on rain gear between first lite, kuiu, Sitka. I'm sure this topic has already been covered before but I would like to here about it. I live in NW Oregon, so when it rains it rains. Looking for what is going to keep me dry and quite. If it was breathable that would be great too. Not to worried about cost because at the end of day being dry is what matters.

Sitka Dew Point is light & packable. Dries out quickly.

Sitka Cold Front I have is great for later in the season. Excellent product.

I like the Kuiu line too, but don't have a set.

Considering buying a set as a back up, because in elk hunting......you eventually are going to be wet.

Sitka cold front seems to have solid reviews and is what I'm most likely going to go with

I run with Helly Hansen impertech for southeast Kootenays for the last four years, elk hunting in thick tall alders and supper thick brush.  this stuff is supper durable and strecthy, but does not breath worth a damn, but i just take off a layer of clothing. or slow the pace down a bit..

I really like Core4 Torrent, it is quiet and will keep you dry no matter what, does take a long time to dry on the outside because of the material it's made out of to make it quiet.

I got dumped on this year, and my Kryptek Poseidon rain gear worked great. You can find these on sale and save serious coin. They pack down small and light and are actually pretty durable.

Rained almost everday on us this year. Cabelas lightweight outer shell with goretex was awesome! Stayed dry the whole time.

I know it's not one of the choices you listed, but I love my Kryptek rain gear. I have spent many days in the pouring rain this fall chasing goats, and it kept me completely dry. Definitely worth considering.

If money is not a problem I'd go with the Kuiu Yukon.  To make a long story short, I too live in the PNW and know what you mean by "when it rain, it rains."  I had given up on rain gear until I found the Yukon line.  It's heavy, but it's worth it!  Plus, you can live in the stuff.  It's flexible, stretchy, has pockets, is wicked durable, and I've been in downpours for hours pushing through brush and haven't had a drop of water touch me.

The Yukon line has set a high bar that I don't think can be reached.

I have a full review on the Yukon at

The first lite storm tight is awesome and dries faster than my kuiu Yukon did.  Kuiu Yukon is a touch quieter.

Dreamingbig,

Can you elaborate on the First Lite kit you have?  I'm super interested in other companies out there and am curious if you've had a good stint with your gear.  How far have you pushed it?  Is it good in brush?

Sure.  I used the FirstLite stormtight jacket and pants last year in Washington state high country wilderness.  It is very durable and survived several days of all day where through the brush with no rips or tears.  I wore it and was able to walk up on two cows during a rainy evening.  One of the cows was at 40 yards but I elected not to shoot.

I think it is plenty quiet for those rainy day hunts and also proved to be very durable.  It isn't the lightest but also not heavy.  I like it because you can wipe it dry with a lightweight towel and it will be dry in no time.

This was the 3rd year with my Sitka Cloudburst system and I'm still impressed.  My hunting partner and I often joke about our Cloudburst system being our 90% gear as it mostly rains in NW MT during rifle season.  We have spent countless days in 12+hrs of rain without issue.  Of course you're going to get wet around the wrists and neck if not properly secured, but we can stay dry all day.  On days like that, there are not many hunters in the field but this systems allows us to stay out all day.
