my hair fell out, i got fatter, i got slower, i get heartburn.. i take a daily gout prevention pill...i kinda make a grunting noise when i hoist a pack onto my shoulders..i think about how far the truck is before i let an arrow fly.

of all that BS, the one that drives me insane and BUMS me out are my failing eyes. i got reading glasses years ago, but for the first time EVER, i find i actually need them. messing with my bow equipment..unless it is in bright sunlight, i am going back for my glasses. dimly lit restaurants with trendy, daily menus, written in cute-tiny scripts..wow. \"i\'ll have what the lady is having\".

this sucks!!

on the bright side, i\'ve never made better money..haha. i guess the blessing is that my far sighted-ness is still crazy good.

It sucks, for sure. Menus are tough to read.

Best thing I spent money on in years was prescription sunglasses (see avatar).

Welcome to the club.

After wearing glasses for years I opted for lasik 10 years ago.
The doctor said as I aged I would need to wear reading glasses unless they adjusted one eye for close up work.
I opted not to do that and had both eyes done for distance.
When I turned 50 I noticed that a menu was getting to be a challenge and threading my fishing line through a hook eye was next to impossible. My arms are just a few inches short of where things need to be for me to see clearly.
I have reading glasses and only use them when needed, half the time I don\'t even take them with me anywhere.
My vision is great beyond about 3\' great for hunting not so much for reading.

Yeah, you are lucky there, Cliff. My eyesight went the other direction...I\'ve got great near vision, but at several hundred yards I couldn\'t tell you if I\'m looking at a bull or a cow. Not great for an elk hunter...I always have my binos on my chest.

Fortunately, most of my shots on elk are relatively close range, and even though the kill zone might be a little blurry at 50 yds, I can still concentrate on the middle of the \"blur\" when I release. I refuse to wear glasses or contacts on a hunt...total PITA !

Had LASIK about 15 years ago, a couple weeks ago I broke down and got some reading glasses, killed my soul to do it. Seems like every day it\'s worse, :downthumb: guess I\'ll add my kisser button back to my bow this year.

I solved the problem of menus years ago.....................I don\'t eat out anymore. Works perfect.

I just bifocals :(
They work OK, but there is still a distance I cant see with those and a distance I cant see with my glasses

Gee thanks guys, we are like a bunch of old people, talking about what ails us....

Oh wait, we are old :)

My vision is blurry at all distances. So, rather than wear glasses, and have it look good at just one distance. I don\'t even bother, and leave it all blurry.

Except when i\'m home. Then I have reading glasses, and computer glasses that I wear. The only time i wear glasses outdoors is when skinning a critter, and I wear the computer glasses. That\'s to save my fingers. :D

The fine lines on my arrow cresting got a LOT better when I finally broke down a got a pair of cheaters. I can now also tie a hook on my line without finding a 10 year old to do it!

Still need the 10 year old to help figure out my \"smarter than me\" smart phone.

I am in the same shoes as you elkmtngear. I can see up close but things get blurry with distance. My binos are a must to see distances. I guess if I can\'t pass the eye exam to renew my drivers license I will need some specs.

Had to put a lens in my peep to see my pins...I use the lowest power they make..it cleared up my pins and I can still see the target.

I feel compelled to interject with an old man joke

My distance vision is still pretty good, but anything inside arms reach is a lost cause. I picked up a pair of cheap walmart reading glasses that are something like +125 for shooting, & it works pretty good. I just don\'t want to wear them all the time when hunting. :geek: I also broke down & picked up a peep verifier. Waiting on a new set of strings/ cables to install. Well see?

I had lasik done about 14 years ago and now am getting to the point now where I have to use cheeters for small print. I am also noticing when I am shooting it is getting harder see the spots on my target at long distances. Buglemaster I have never heard of a peep verifier before. Where can I find some info on them.

They come in different magnifications. If you go to a shop that sells them, they have a little gizmo that you can compare the different verifiers to get the right one. I hope it works. I believe the peep & verifier ran me close to $60. You might find one on the classifieds on AT as well.

I\'ve tried the 3 lowest power lenses. The lowest power clears up your pins but doesn\'t make your target fuzzy.....I carry a q tip to keep my lens clean

Once you get your prescription, go to <!-- w --><a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.39dollarglasses.com\">www.39dollarglasses.com</a><!-- w -->.
You can get extra pair of glasses for much less
That where I got my prescription sunglasses

I have a pretty good pair of specks with photo gray lenses. But for hunting I leave them in the truck because of the glare at certain times. I take a pair of foldup Foster Grant reading glasses from Walgreens with me for the close up map reading and other stuff. They fold up in a nice little case and fit in my front pocket. I think they were 2 for $10 or something like that.
