Who out there is running a vest as the weather cools. Gonna try one under my camo for those cold mornings. I layer up now, but my sleeves get to bulky so I thought I\'d try a vest situation.

I use vests all the time while hunting, but then again it\'s required ;)

I actually do like to have options though. I have two orange vests, one lighter and one fleece. I also have a camo fleece vest that I use for layering. I don\'t think you need to spend any crazy money on them. My recommendation would be something similar to what I use. It\'s thin enough to layer with and no need to get one that\'s waterproof as I\'ll be wearing more than a vest if it is raining or snowing. I think they work great to keep your core area warm, and if you take it off, they are easy to pack away and carry.

As a woman, finding a vest that fits me and meets 100% of my criteria has been the most frustrating camo purchase next to a hunting day pack.

If you want a customized one and cost is not an issue, try: http://enigmacamo.com/ You may add insulation to it. Their vest does not have a collar which I prefer since vests\' collars are usually too high for me and interfere with my anchor point.

After trying to find a vest for me (woman) and wasting lots of $$$, I may ask them to make a custom one next year. They have one seamstress in CO, so I will see if I can do an in person sizing. I am so over wasting money on clothing that does not fit great. I have tried 4 vests. None of them meet 100% of my criteria for CO September hunting, therefore, they tend to stay in camp.

In late September, a CO hunter featured on their site, showed me some of their items. He uses it in Africa and every place he hunts in the US. He does a lot of spot and stalk. The wolfskin is amazing. He made a point saying that Enigma will not fade, unlike the early years of ASAT. It does great in rain. Wolfskin does not snag on vegetation. I was impressed by the material.

As I understand, the owner and creator of enigma used to run ASAT. I mostly wear ASAT camo. I do not care if my camo matches. I just want it to fit and be functional.

Timber I had a first lite vest but sold it. I guess it depends on how and where you hunt but I found the wool vest to be warm but not worth the extra bulk and weight for spot and stalk hunting. I bought a 800 fill down puffy with a hood. It weighs 13 ounces and stuffs into a tiny sack. Not sure if that might be a better option but it\'s way warmer, lighter, and packs a lot smaller. With the hood on its crazy warm, could save your life in an emergency situation.

i bought a $40 dollar down vest in Tokyo. i picked the ugliest green color they had because i could work it into my hunt clothing.

it is super light and packs down to the size of a beer can. loosely. i bet i could get it small. way small. it\'s working. under my sitka 90% it is very warm. alone..lightly warm. i am now replacing my old beaten fleece vest. i loved that vest. it is just some Cabelas brand i got on sale. but it takes up a lot of pack space. the down wins!! now that i know down is fine..i might spend the money on a hunt vest. maybe the sitka kelvin light or the Kuiu superdown vest.

my superdown jacket is too big for me now. :)

Not sure if you check out Camofire or not but they have been having some nice vests on there almost every week for a great price
