As we continue growing as a site, we want to bring in new things that please the users.

If you have not noticed, JF has started adding countdown timers for our hunts.
It\'s a work in process because he has to write the codes into the script (matrix stuff)
Here soon you should see more countdowns.

We wanted to know if you guys had any other ideas that might make your visit more pleasurable?

Fire away!

I\'m not an IT guy so I\'m not sure what the logistics of this are but: I hate having to resize my pics from my phone in order to post em. I can\'t post from my mobile device. It\'d be great if you could upload larger photos with ease. Also, I\"d love to see a simple big game forum where any and all posts show up on the main page. Right now, it seems 99% of our usage is on the elk forum. That\'s great but we really need to diversify. We\'ve got a few great people who basically dominate the elk forums. It sometimes feels a bit more like a classroom than an open forum. In short, we need more hunters of more things, not just elk. Elk fuels us all but it won\'t fuel a website. Others have proven this. Tell your friends and lets expand the crowd here. Lurkers, PLEASE POST!! We\'ll be better for it.

Will
Do use a Droid phone?
I can post pics here with an iPhone
I know nothing about the droid platform but maybe you can adjust your phone camera pic size?

I don\'t even know how to attach using my phone haha

I usually upload my pictures to photobucket and then post links from that.

Will,
You touched on two huge things.
I agree we need more diversity. I wish we had more deer hunters, turkey, antelope, etc....

It makes for much more conversation and education.

I also agree that we need more lurkers to post.
No one should feel intimidated here.

I\'m still extremely new to elk hunting so I have lots of questions to ask, but I also have a little information that I can add to threads from my little experience. The same goes for everyone.

We learn from our successes and our failures. So we need to share them all!

If we had more whitetail hunters I could arrange a trip to have everyone come to Oklahoma ;)

?????? We have a \"deer hunting\", and an \"other game\" page. I am not sure we would want one for each species. I like it simple. I have left sites that started these blogs , whatever they are, and other new techy things.

Our Banner says \"Backtrack Outdoors sponsoring Elk Mentors\"

Maybe a page for \"other big game\" would be ok.

Remember K I S S works for more things than just elk hunting.

Just my $.02

Sorry Terry,

I wasn\'t meaning new sub sections, I just meant more active participants in each section.

I can probably count on one hand how many people post in the deer section.

I like K I S S too haha.

We definitely don\'t want you to leave!!!!!!!!

Don\'t care for KISS that much these days but did when I was in high school. Detroit Rock City!! Oh, wait, I think I read the other posts to0 fast. ;)

I don\'t really have any recommendations but an observation. Since I usually don\'t have the time at work to view the forum and have a list of things to do most nights after work, it may be a week or more before I get out here to read. On the Elk Hunting page, there are 17 pages worth of posts. It seems most postings are short, get a few responses then go \'dead\'. Well, I don\'t really want to post 2 weeks after the last person since the thread has basically lost interest.

Not a real big deal but there can be quite a few new posts/topics in a week and you can get behind pretty quick! Not asking for a solution either - just making an observation.

I like how the board/forums are setup right now. I think the biggest hurdle to the success is getting more people engaged and signed up but also moderate the postings so it doesn\'t get into a bash-everyone-who-doesn\'t-agree-with-me site. I think that\'s a big downfall for some of the bigger sites when getting TOO big - Bowsite and Archery Talk come to mind. I don\'t have worries for this site heading down that road as the moderators seem to watch everything pretty close.....at least at this membership number.

Appreciate the site and all you guys do to keep it up and running!

Russ

If you mods could build some sort of program/code that would put a 350 class bull (im not super picky...it can be 340) in front of me this season broadside/slightly quartered away (and looking away...again I\'m not super picky) then I will take care of the rest. Thanks! JF...can you get this done for me? Oh.....while you are at it build a program to pack him out for me too.

Luke
Do you get cell service where you hunt?

If you do, let me know and I will send you a pic of a 340-350 bull to your phone, you can turn the phone in any direction you see fit, set the phone down in front of you and shoot it.

The pack will be a piece of cake, just put the phone back in your pocket :upthumb:

Thanks Brad.....I knew asking would get me somewhere. My cell service is pretty spotty. I get like one or two bars at best. Even then I have to stand one one leg...making shooting a big challenge. So getting pics sent to my phone probably isn\'t going to happen. I get text messages...only text though so no pictures. How about you send me the GPS numbers to my phone of the bulls you are chasing and I will come shoot one. :mg:
Then you can help me pack him out. ;)

I think Will makes an excellent point. The problem is how do we get the diversity we want. I.e. We could talk rabbits I suppose, but what I know about hunting them is the absolute minimum. It is all hearsay to me. We can talk Blacktail and Mule deer hunting, but I claim no significant expertise. As for Whitetails and Coues deer, I am at a complete loss. We need people with expertise and a passion to heat up the forums we have. We have even tried to buy some small forums, but you would not believe what people think these forums, that make the owners absolutely no money. are worth when you offer to buy them.
If we can develop a forum on urinating on bears, I am still your man. I have never shot a single bear, but I still know what it takes to pee on one. :D

Done

Will if your phone is a Droid set your pic size to 1280 by 720 and they will post. At first mine were to big and this was the size I found that works for me.

First let me say thank you to the administrators and moderators for the time they spend making this site what it is. I was amazed at how much is going on under the radar after speaking with Dan a while back. Much more than most of us know for sure.

I must admit that after a long day at work, just sitting and soaking in info is much easier than contributing. I started looking on the internet for elk info just a few years ago never thinking of being a part of anything but just learning something to make my elk hunting successful. I think Brad was probably the first person I had any personal contact with from this endeavor. I\'m sure there are some individuals right now that are doing the same thing but just have not taken the step to come forward.

A few months back I was on the live chat one evening and in the ensuing conversation mentioned to the few that were on there to come by and hunt turkeys sometime if they wanted to and what followed was about as enjoyable hunting experiences as I\'ve had. Really didn\'t think anyone would take me up on it but I\'m sure glad they did! Never would have happened if I was still just lurking!

Will, I think perhaps the reason it looks like a few elk hunters are dominating that part is because those few want something new daily to keep interest as high as possible. Please join them! I would love to get together some time with you and others just to be able to talk in depth about some things.
Actually I have no suggestions, just encouragement.
