I have always shot a caliper style release but have been looking at a hook style. Anybody have any experience with a hook good or bad and any certain brand better than another one?

Got a release for sale on the classifieds ... just sayin\' ...

I use the caliper type because I use one of the metal D-loops. (I just find it easier when tuning to use that type.)

I got the fold back one, and for the life of me I can\'t remember the brand, I find it\'s faster to hook up and shoot without looking. Really like the fold back as I usually wear it all day so I won\'t leave it or lose it, lol.

True fire, I think

Scott rhino XT ncs (nylon strap). I bought the small straps thru my archery shop to replace the standard size. I have very small wrists.

It comes with 3 different spring weights: light, medium, heavy.

Trigger is adjustable.

I had tried the single and double calibers before switching to hook. It does not always reset, however, I now subconscious reset or check that it reset. If I fiddled with its settings, I likely could get it to reset all the time. It fails to reset if I did poor follow through.

I bought mine at Lancaster archery.

The hook style makes it fast and easy to get it on. I do not need to look down at my loop to get it on the string.

my wife bought me a truefire hardcore for Christmas. i put a post it note on a pic of it and said. \"look!\"

figured it saved me a new sweater.

i loved it!! smooth, easy to hook. took some getting used to, because with my calipers i have to pull the trigger to open the jaws, then put my finger behind the trigger. shot like this since the beginning. you dont know how many times i pulled that trigger to hook up!!

i sent it back. i was shooting a spot hogg hunter hogg it at the time. it was maxed out left..or very close to it. with the Hardcore, i was hitting 3\" left at 20 yards. i didnt have any more throw on my sight to make it happen. my peep was high and to the right!! i finally figured that out, by moving my peep up and figuring out a new anchor..but it was too late. the release was going back to Amazon.

in the end, i am cool with jaws. i can shake with adrenalin and not lose my hookup.

I\'ve been shooting Scott releases for over 20 years. My favorite is the mongoose NCS. Picked up one of the newer hook style releases about 4 years ago and for me it just takes longer to hook up.

Velcro makes noise and is harder to repeat the same fitting each time you put it on, therefore, I prefer the buckle style strap.

However, many people prefer velcro for its micro adjustable fitting that you cannot get with a buckle strap unless you start punching extra holes in the strap.

I have a tru ball short & sweet with a hook. Have loved it from the first time I put it on. Only had one event that got ugly & it goes along with what mtnmutt said. The Velcro straps with time lose their gripping strength. I was about at 3/4 draw when the Velcro released. Nearly knocked myself out & bloodied my lip. the archery Gods were looking out for me as the arrow stuck in the ground about half way to my target rather than clearing the neighbors fence. The only Velcro I deal with since are those lousy little Velcro berries that are so populated in the area we hunt elk. I swear, they jump off the bush & attack everything from my elbows down! :x They seem to retain their holding strength better than any release strap made!!

I\'ve had the tru fire hardcore max for almost a year now and I love it.
Has a fold back free pivoting head so even if you hold it differently the head will align the same way.
Adjustable trigger pressure and trigger travel.
