After explaining my simple bugling thoughts last night to another forum member, he requested I post them on the forum. For me it not about titles of the bugle, it\'s about definition of sounds, start to finish. Each can stand alone or be mixed to form simple expressions. Here\'s just a small clip of what I believe.
1. Growl - warning.
2. Bugle - draw attention to ones geographic location. Length of bugle helps distant elk pinpoint exact location.
3. Chuckles - request for other elk to join or stay with the dominate bull. Intensity determines dominate expression.
Example:
Warning or Challenge Bugle( as some call it) - Growl with bugle or by definition, warning other bulls then drawing attention to ones geographic location!
Advertising (as some call it) - Bugle with chuckles or by definition, drawing attention to ones geographic location and requesting they join the dominate bull.
So when I\'m out in the woods, I don\'t try to \"label\" the bugle. Every bugle has the exact same general message......draws attention to the physical location of the bull. Accompanying sounds determine true meaning.
Take it for what it\'s worth, just my 2-cents!
