Requested - my definition of simple

After explaining my simple bugling thoughts last night to another forum member, he requested I post them on the forum. For me it not about titles of the bugle, it\'s about definition of sounds, start to finish. Each can stand alone or be mixed to form simple expressions. Here\'s just a small clip of what I believe.

1. Growl - warning.
2. Bugle - draw attention to ones geographic location. Length of bugle helps distant elk pinpoint exact location.
3. Chuckles - request for other elk to join or stay with the dominate bull. Intensity determines dominate expression.

Example:

Warning or Challenge Bugle( as some call it) - Growl with bugle or by definition, warning other bulls then drawing attention to ones geographic location!
Advertising (as some call it) - Bugle with chuckles or by definition, drawing attention to ones geographic location and requesting they join the dominate bull.

So when I\'m out in the woods, I don\'t try to \"label\" the bugle. Every bugle has the exact same general message......draws attention to the physical location of the bull. Accompanying sounds determine true meaning.

Take it for what it\'s worth, just my 2-cents!

As far as bugling is concerned, I believe that is simple, straight forward and sufficient.

I would say all barks regardless what we call them including terms like nervous grunts, are an alarm. The elk may stand there or run off depending on what they saw, heard or smelled.

The main difference in cow calls, except for estrus calls, is in how they are used. Even a lost cow sound is just a series of simple cow sounds.
The difference is in most calls is in the context of their use.

When I agree with John, I start to get nervous, but I believe he is on the right track. :D If you see things differently here please explain.

Thanks Swede! It is scary that we agree on something. This is how I truly hunt. Ask me and I\'ll tell you my exact opinion. ;)

I play devils advocate a lot of times and I take the heat or the beating. But that\'s ok with me because I\'d rather take it than allow a newbie to take it. :upthumb:

Believe in what you experience and think about what truly makes sense.

LOL I think we agree on most things, but I enjoy exploring for depth, and seeing where my experiences and observations meet or diverge from others.
