Does anyone wear rubber boots for hunting or scouting?

Are there any pairs or brands that you would recommend?

I do. Almost all the time in wet, damp mornings chasing elk.

Lacrosse - I have 2 pair. one regular non-insulated and one 800gram AlphaBurly.

My buddies cant believe I can hunt all day in rubber boots.
I think they are great, a bit hot at times but the non-insulated ones are quiet, comfy and rugged.

Do you think they are better with scent control, Brad?

Me either. You must have some tough feet. I would have blisters the size of silver dollars. I wear lace up boots with two pair of thin socks elk hunting. I lace them up tight so I can barely move my toes. movement equals blisters for me.

I do wear the rubber boots deer hunting when I walk less than a mile on not so rough ground.

when i worked in a tunnel they got us Lacrosse boots. no correction, they gave us crap boots and i bought my own Lacrosse.
mine are beat. i had to shoe-goo a couple of holes where the top of the foot is constantly flexing. i have hiked so far with those things chasing turkey. no problems. not to mention how long i wear them on a 10 hour tunneling day. mine are that nasty brown colored ones, but years of use has put a camo \"patina\" on them. i wear them for all my weedwacking duties..

i dig them..i want to buy a camo pair, but mine wont completely die. not so sure i could carry a pack long distance with them..i should try.

Lightweight Gore Tex boots and Gaiters is all I ever need...regardless of weather.

So far (2 Seasons), my Lowa Renegades do not leak.

When it is wet, muddy, and nasty out, I wear Muck Chore boots. They are like wearing a pair of house slippers. Very comfy! They are rated at -20 degrees but my feet start getting a little chilly around 10 above to zero in them. Never had a foot odor problem with them. And no blisters. Like I said, comfy as house slippers! And a big plus is that they are lighter and more flexable than the Artic version.

I also wear the LaCrosse Burlys for all my deer hunting. They have a fitted ankle so they are very comfortable although not a lot of support for hiking. I feel they offer way better scent control than leather, IMO. I once had a doe follow my tracks in a fresh snow across the field. not once did she stop or sniff the tracks, she just followed them like a trail for about 400 yds until she ended up at the base of my tree. She looked up and down it twice and you could almost see the wheels turning until she pegged me. Satisfied, she walked off.

Thanks for all of the posts you guys.

I have gotten by without them for a while now, but I think it would benefit me to add a pair of rubber boots to my collection.

No doubt about it Iccy: I camped next to a guy a few years back that three good pair of leather boots. It was so nasty that he had to call off his hunt because all three pair were soaked. Bet he wished he had some good rubber boots!
