i hate them. i hate how they make skeptics like me question even the legitimate charities. i bet it hurts the real cause.

yesterday some guy that looked borderline homeless rang my door. my wife answered. i stood nearby just in case, and he started asking for money to send soldiers care packages. sure.

IF (big if) i was to try to collect $$ for a charitable cause, i would clean myself up and dress presentable. clean clothing, bare minimum. i quickly searched them on my phone and it was a scam.

bums me out.

These scam artists need to be locked up! Makes me ill.

Just FYI...Wounded Warriors is the real deal.

Found out first hand, my Daughter ripped up her hip two Years ago during Marine Infantry Training (she was one of the first 50 Women to attempt it).
She\'s been slowly ripping it apart for two Years (she has a bad labral tear).

I did some research and found a Stem Cell Treatment center that accepted her as a patient, and Wounded Warriors is picking up the entire bill !

The funding approval took less than one week. Very impressed by their Organization.

Yeah, it\'s too bad we can\'t identify the folks who truly need a helping hand and those who just have a hand out. We may be heading to wine country in November so I\'ll be sure and look presentable before showing up asking for gas money and GPS coordinates to the drunk turkeys!

Glad to hear Wounded Warrior helped your daughter - heard nothing but good things about the org.

Same can kind of be said about United Way. It\'s that time of year in corporate America where everything that\'s done or said is under the pretense of United Way and our contribution goals are higher every year(more than our annual increases for certain). We\'re \"encouraged\" to give our \"fair share\" every year but you don\'t know where it\'s going. Was told that even if you send in a donation and note that it\'s for a specific group that once said group hits their goal/budgeted amount that any additional monies received specifically for that group will be given to someone else.

Had a manager once contribute on my behalf to UW so that made 100% team participation and they got a pizza party and she got a ++ on her review. Found out she did that to 2 people.

So, I quit contributing to United Way and just go directly to org that I want to donate to.
