Scheels is coming to N. Colorado - Good?

Go online and check them out. They have a lot of guns, reloading supplies, fishing gear, camping gear, quite a bit of archery, some camo clothing. Everything you want should be upstairs. They have the stuff Francis mentioned too, I think. I just head up stairs soon as I get inside.

Scheels in Rapid City is awesome! Ya, you can get the spandex panties along with about everything else sports related. It\'s chocked full of archery gear, guns & ammo as well as reloading supplies, trapping stuff, you name it.It puts the Cabelas store there to shame. Better prices also. I\'m thrilled!

In seriosity, I have been to a Scheels (in Lincoln, or was it Omaha?) ... fairly generic ... except the gun department. I thought it was well-organized, well-staffed (with people who understood guns), and well-priced.
But that may have been just that store. My thought is that guns departments are no longer the \"center\" of stores ... they are, though, magnets that suck in \"lookers\" and those people do buy stuff on the way out.
Put a gun department in, and it doesn\'t matter if they sell much ... they draw in customers, lookers, \"fondlers\" ...
Look at it this way: Scheels has a very good sports department ... they\'ve got the running, soccer, baseball, yoga crowd taken care of ... wherever they go, they HAVE that market. But they can expand a bit, by selling guns, too.
I don\'t see anything against it. Smart, really. Add another demographic group coming through the front door.
But I prefer to buy my \"stuff\" -- whatever stuff I\'m buying that day -- from businesses who specialize in THAT stuff, whether it\'s guns, or saddles, or tools.
I\'ll buy from someone who USES what they SELL.
In fact, in purchasing a new horse trailer 2 weekends ago, I told the guy that I\'m driving past a lot of trailer salesmen to purchase from him ... he knew why I wanted this feature and didn\'t want that one. The other spots were just hoping to meet some monthly minimum.

I\'d add, though, that Scheels has a limited range of other gear, IMO, other than a contract with Filson, which is good stuff which no one can afford and is so heavy that it isn\'t even a real player in the high-end hunting gear anymore.

You\'ll get a better deal at Gannet Ridge, I\'m sure -- especially once you factor in SERVICE.

It\'ll be interesting to see how much hunting gear they decide to carry. Once Cabelas moved to town, most of the Sports Authorities decided to no longer carry hunting gear. Kind of a weird deal, but I guess they decided they couldn\'t compete.

all i have is a Dick\'s. if i want BPS, i have to drive 2 hours.
WAH! i\'d love a Scheels..the closest one is in Reno. thank God for mail order. i almost had a heart attack in El Paso when i noticed they have a Gander Mtn. now that store sucked..but the camo spandex dept was epic.. let me tell you what, i\'ve never looked better bending over to tie my boots.
