Scoured the forums hoping to find anyone with experience using Snake Proof Gaiters with their hunting boots. As in high country elk hunting. Haven't encountered any of the slithering critters on the mountain as of yet but bumped into one a week ago in town. Got me thinking and it's time to purchase new boots. Thanks for any advise or direction on boots/snake proof gaiter combos.

I met these guys at a Trade show for Safety and they had cameo ones that where pretty light weight. The was an old elk hunter and said they were not too bad...

I know folks around here that wear them while doing ranch work, and one outfitter guide who wears them everyday.
I have seen 2 rattlers on my place in 5 yrs. And more while hiking around.
But only gaiters I use is gore-tex over rain gear in real bad downpours.

Now gloves,I wear them more all the time due to critter considerations. Hunting and working around the ranch.

Thanks for the input Guys. Looks like my plan will be the fit a pair of Cabelas snake Proof gaiters with some new Lowa Tibets (or similar boot ). Who knows maybe someday the boot manufactures will add the Snake Guard liner to Quality hunting boots as already in (lesser) made snake proof boots today. Shouldn't be a stretch to manufacture that feature in.
