me..11,000.

like a fool, i just blurted out a \"yes\" to hiking up the highest peak in CO. i think it is the highest in the continental USA. oh o!!
my brother does that hike that honors fallen policemen, and this year he is taking his siblings. a one day, plus over nighter. i admit, i am kinda nervous. 14,300+

i kid you not, my living room is at 63 feet!

11,500 once. My cousin wanted to show me where he missed a cow. I\'m glad he missed her because it was some of the nastiest rocks to walk on and pack a elk out of.

I have been up to 13,000 + packing a mtn goat down - never again.

FYI
Colorado has 53 peaks that are over 14,000ft

I suppose it\'d be 12,006 ... Medicine Bow Peak. Not really bad there at all. I\'d like to conquer a 14-er someday, but it\'s not a huge priority. My living room is at 7350\', so you\'d think I\'d be relatively adjusted to altitude, but I\'d say past 11,000 (which we spend quite a bit of time near) there is -- to me -- a definite thinning of the air. Past 16,000\' is (apparently) another \"breaking point\" for the guys who like that kind of thing.

I\'ve done a bunch of Colorado\'s 14\'ers, not sure which was the highest but I try to get one or two each year

I glassed on a peak one year that was 17 feet short of 12k. I was looking for a higher point just to say I was at 12k but couldn\'t get there. I watched some elk come out to feed in a small meadow across the canyon. Then headed back to camp 1.5 miles and and 2k decend away. Without a flashlight or headlamp. Never again. Lesson learned.

Peak 1, 12,805ft, 3,805 elevation gain from start. Peak 1 is part of the Tenmile range in Summit County, CO. We hiked to the peak on the tail end of a storm which likely was stupid. We all stopped to vote on proceeding to the summit. Luckily, the storm truly had passed.

I am not a fan of hiking much above timberline because of the timing for thunderstorms. I much prefer interesting scenic hikes rather than strictly destination style hikes. Bagging 14ers will never be my thing. I also do not like hikes with lots of other hikers, mtn bikers or horsebackers riders.

After saying all that, a friend is on me to do 14ers with her. She is trying to wear me down. Never say never. I am a sucker for trying new things.

I\'m surrounded by 14,000ft mountains. I\'ve been up a few of them. I\'ve been to a bit over 12,000ft while hunting. According to GE anyway.

11,500 feet, on an elk hunt with my Brother and best Friend

I am probably the least accomplished in the high peaks area. I have been hiking above 9,000 feet, but have never reached 10,000 feet. I think going above 10,000 feet may take some getting used to for me, as I live at about the 300 foot level now.

Mt Elbert is our goal.

It\'s an annual trek. Every state does it. Police from that state hike their highest peak. My brother is going with CO this year. They did NM last year. He says some states they just walk up a grassy knoll and called it good. Haha. I feel for the AK cops.
