So who is excited to elk hunt?

Im heading out this weekend to hang some cameras, bow is shooting well, workouts are coming along great, map studies are rocking, great growth this year after a record breaking rain all last year and a good start to this year....



needless to say.... IM EXCITED!

I haven\'t even shot my bow this year. Snow again yesterday, with high winds. Looks like the dead of winter here now. (Hmm, like last weekend. And the one before that.)

I am not \"excited\" about elk hunting; looking forward to elk hunting has become a psychological necessity this winter.

I am beyond excited... I have new gear to try out and will be hunting a hard unit but a chance at a big bull is def there. :agg:

If I draw the unit I put in for I will be ecstatic. This is the spot I was turned on to years ago but opted out to hunt with my son. I have two buddies that have been into this spot and have taken three bulls the past three years. I\'ve seen their go-pro footage and they passed on numerous cows and bulls as well. The awesome part? They too are beginners! Plus, this is the backpacking trip in a few miles from the trail head. Since I\'ve never done a backpacking trip that brings on a whole new level of excitement since I have to prepare for that as well. I\'m having fun researching that element of the hunt and gathering gear.

I have one more weekend coaching lacrosse, a couple more weeks before I find out if I drew a tag, and then I can really focus on being ready for the season.

I haven\'t been this excited in a decade...my arrows are finding their mark, I get to see some new elk country...I\'ve got intel up the wazoo about the Unit we drew in NM...hunting with one of my best buddies...this Year is going to be epic ! :upthumb:

No elk hunting for me UNLESS I\'m drawn for a Arkansas tag... I\'ll try to make that one if I have to go in a wheelchair or be carried... :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

But I am planning to deer hunt and maybe even duck hut some...
