Went up to check a camera this Thursday, I had it out since 7/1/13, had checked it 2 times, had a bunch of elk and Bulls hitting the water hole.

Went in Thursday 9/12/13 & the camera was GONE!  I have used camera's for 4 yrs & this was the first time I had paddle locked one in a Metal Box that was a "Bushnell Camera" with a bushnell Lockbox & some SOB stole it.

When I got to the water hole(more of a sepe), there were 2 big mudholes that a bulll had wallowed and made, I was so excited then, someone stole my camera and I was mad!

Why would you steal someone's Camera?  I always leave other's camera's alone
, this drives me nuts..Now if there was  HUGE Bull in there & they saw it too & Didnt want me to see it on my camera, I understand, you dont want anyone else seeing your bull you found.  But Geeze.....This really torked me, I have out about 6 camera's usually and never have bolted to a tree.  They took all but the Box part, that had 6-7 screws in it.

any thoughts I would love to hear....

dude same thing happened to me. Mine was only out for about 3 days, came back, and gone. The strap was still there and they just busted the camera off. So it was either a bear, or someone just trying to act like a bear. Either way it sucks... life goes on i guess....

I don't know if it will help when someone wants to steal mine, the box is bolted tothe tree with 2 lag bolts then I have a chain locked around the tree. Once the camera is in the box its another bolt and lock.

I guess if they have a saw they can take the whole tree if they need to have my cam that bad...

Wow....Yours is there for Life!!:)    I have had camera's out for 4 yrs, had 1 stolen in Idaho after the Bow Hunt Started, this one in Utah after the bow hunt was on for 3-4 wks.  Never used a Lock until this Time and wow...Guess I better follow your lead.  The Lockbox was a Bushnell and the design sucks, looked at a bunch of reviews and people had similar experience.

Just went to check my stand and blind and both are gone.  Sonofabitching thieves... hope they set up my tree stand and fall out of it.

Had the same thing happen a few years back.  Lost a tree stand and a camera.  Was able to find a poached deer a couple weeks later in the same area.  Dumb bandits left their knife sheath with initials...which I recognized as the son of a guy who worked for the rancher.  Got 'em investigated by DOW and they got hammered!  Never got my stuff back, but it was sweet justice to can these two creeps.

This is a crazy story now...

Last night a lightning bolt hit the hillside above where I had that stand and by this morning it was all torched.  Watched it all go down from outside of my house last night.  Guess those items were going to be gone anyhow.  The world is a crazy place.

Well it's to late for this idea this year since some jackoff already stole your stuff. Next year get a set of good cameras, and maybe one or two cheap ones from Walmart. Use the cheap ones as your game camera, and position the high dollar camera in a way that you can see if someone took the cheap camera. Then you'll have undisputed evidence and can prosecute the SOB.

I can't tell you how many cameras I found i the field this year. every time I turned around there was a camera many of them had NO cable lock on them just waiting to be pulled. I would think that with so many of them being lifted people would start locking them. the other point I wanted to make is no you have to look all around you before you drop your pants  because of all of the dang things hanging on every tree on a trail, water hole or mabe just scanning an area from above. why have 20 cameras out a couple i could see but this year was rediculus in my opinion. ::)
by the way every camera that i found i shook my finger at and said lock it up most just smiled and moved on. :p
