Truck tire and release are the only spares I bring.
Are matches considered spare gear in case my lighter runs out of butane?
Generally speaking, I used to be more of a Boy Scout and take backups for most everything. Now, I try to reduce any redundancy in my gear but also don\'t pack in like before so paranoia of being out in the woods alone without something essential is lessened.
While I don\'t have a spare head lamp, I\'ve got a flashlight in my truck so maybe I have more spares than originally thought - just depends on your definition!
I bring a spare bow with. To far to travel and have problems that can\'t be fixed in camp.
I bring most of the common parts for my bow but I all so have a spare yoke that my arrow rests on my drop away rest. I have seen one side snap off before then your rest is useless .
You are right, it\'s amazing how much crap adds up when you bring backups and spares for multiple things. We try to limit ours to a few essentials: a spare heater for the tent and spare tires for vehicles and the trailer are the main things that come to mind. Along with that, we always try to have more than enough propane bottles, batteries, and when we were hunting some rough 4x4 areas, we used to bring extra cans of food just in case we got snowed in. Oh, and it\'s always better to go home with extra toilet paper than the alternative
IF i am truck camping i keep a spare headlamp in the truck. that way i dont have to eff with the one in my pack..which i would forget at camp if i messed with it.
it has saved me countless times.
spare release. i\'m good to go. if i am packing in..i dont bring spares.
About the only thing ,outside of spare batteries, would be a spare compass. I always carry two and know how to use them. GPS is great but not 100% reliable. Like any electronic device, it can have problems at times.
Almost forgot, I always have at least two knives. A general purpose knife and another one that is only used on game.
