Didn't draw the big bull tag this year and am hunting in south eastern WA state. Limited to spike elk only. What calling strategy would you use for trying to pick off a spike bull?
I've called in spikes with just about anything but I think a cow call works the best. They seem pretty easy to call in if they have been pushed out of the herd and are looking for buddies.
The spike I called in during opening weekend in CO came right in on a Rope on a Carltons bull hooker call. Right at around last light and wouldn't leave me alone until I ended up scaring him off to walk down the mtn.
