Spring bear hunting

I got my spring bear tag today, waiting for april 1rst for opening day!
Anyone else going to spring bear hunt and when do you start scouting?

We actually bait and don't even get started till May.  We've found a lot more action later as the rut is end of May first of June.  Bears are out earlier, but we have more and better action later.

I am hoping the weather holds for us here so we can get it around the 15 th of April.  Last year it was the first of may before we got to our spot,  It was a great year I will post a pic when I figure it out

I'm up here in Northern Idaho and was talking to a guy the other day that will let me come onto his place and bait some bears. He says they are all over around his farm. The sad thing is, that I don't have enought money or space for a bear mount in my apartment. I could get a rug I guess. Anyone know how much a bear rug would cost?

If I remember it's like $800-1200, half mount is $500.  I have sold them though, usually $50-100.  So it's just up to you if they are worth the work.  After what we spend it's not a big deal to spend an hour skinning one.

Depends on size of the rug but Lang is right on $800-$1200.

i get $1000,00 plus the base on a bear mount... i send my hides off for soft tanning..
