So, you always see the professional archers shooting with giant stabilizers, but how important/effective is it for a hunter to have anything longer than say 12 inches or more? I just feel like it would be in the way more  than help. Thoughts?

I agree. But a side bar is a must when shooting with quiver on for me. Made a world of a difference. I run a stokerized stasis now.

Never thought they made a big difference. After playing around with target setups, I?m convinced they absolutely make a big difference. I?ve found a front stabilizer and side bar with and adjustable bracket can balance a bow and improve accuracy, especially at longer distances.

I've never experimented much with stabilizers, but I noticed Corey was using a Crossroad Archery Telescopic Stabilizer recently and I thought it looked interesting. It stays pretty small on your bow, but when you get into a setup you can extend it out. Seems like an interesting idea.

Here's a review he did on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y17iIifWQHc

The Crossroad 821 I ordered will be here Monday. Will see what happens. Never shot anything longer even in IBO days.

I used to shoot a heavy 12 inch doinker and a 10" side rod on my hunting bow.  The pin did definitely lock on target better.  My shot has evolved over the years and I have realized that my pin sitting still doesn't matter.  I am a puller and not an aimer so as long as I do everything correctly on the release arm side my shots hit the middle.

Now I just shoot a 10" fuse carbon blade hunter.  It is mainly for vibe and quietening the bow.

My stabilizer turned into a camera....

It's cool leading up to the shot, but falls apart after I hit my release.
