Suggestions for Elk Outfitters

I'm looking to take a Elk rifle hunt with an outfitter in 2017.  It will be my first trip out west for Elk. I've chatted with Banded Peak Outfitters. Any suggestions of other outfitters that I should talk with. I'm in the beginning stages of my search but would like to get something locked down soon before the hunts get booked up.

Hi Pirate;
I have been elk hunting since 1992.  I was fortunate that a friend of mine moved out west and so I didn't require outside assistance to get me hooked on elk hunting.


I don't want to badmouth Outfitters, and that is not my intention.  I am actually trying to work out logistics with one for this year for a "Drop Camp."


Be very careful on the Outfitter you choose, and as you well know, you can do a lot of research on the internet.  Get on as many forums as possible to check them out.


A buddy of mine used an Outfitter many years ago, scored on a big bull, but had no intention of ever going again due to his unpleasant experience.


Are you going archery, or rifle.  Archery is the BEST!

Thanks for the reply.  I have been talking with Banded Peak Outfitters in Southern Colorado and trying to go for the first rifle hunt.  As much as these hunts cost I wanted to hopefully have better odds of actually harvesting an animal on my first trip. 

I also want to hunt private land, not just pick a guide to go with me on public ground.
