ok, now that i live back in mo (yea i know) whats the best way to get my heads back here. im gonna be out there for 4 weeks so if i kill say my mulie the 14th an not driving back til the 28th how do i keep it so i can get it mounted back here.

Scott, I\'d find a taxidermist close to where you\'re hunting and have them salt the cape then take to a butcher or someone with a walk-in freezer. I guess you could take salt with you and then keep in a cooler but don\'t let the hide get wet.

Take it to a butcher shop and have them freeze it. Or someone you might know from here if they are not to far away.

OK, I think I have the best answer ...

Talk to your local taxidermist and ask him how he\'d like it handled.

You won\'t go wrong with this approach. I know some of them have strong preferences regarding freezing and salt ... I have no idea of whether their concerns are important or hogwash, but I think if you plan to take the cape to them, best to ask them BEFOREHAND about how THEY would like them treated.

Nope I do....I\'m taking my taxidermist with me! :dance2: He\'s filling an open slot and he better be bringing his caping tools.
