I came across this site that may be interesting for those who like to backpack in

<!-- m --><a class=\"postlink\" href=\"http://www.backpacking.net/27-pound.html#pack\">http://www.backpacking.net/27-pound.html#pack</a><!-- m -->

I may use it in some modification for a spike camp, but its good all-around info

Wow! :wtf:

I guess my \"ultralight\" gear isn\'t so ultralight after all!

I\'m sure I\'m pushing 45# with 7 days of stuff.

Last year I tried to pack everything in for a 12 day hunt. My pack was around 80lbs, would I have been better off packing for 6 or 7 days then coming back out and repack for the remainder of the days and going back in?

That weight wouldn\'t allow for much of your animal to come out with you on the first pack out. You\'ll have roughly 250# of Elk plus antlers/skull plate to deal with too.

Here is a funny pic of my partner last year with his Badlands 4500.

Noticed in that list of items he has, he doesn\'t eat any lunch, just a snack. That would add a couple of more pounds. And he\'s not carrying a bow or gun. Still, it\'s something to shoot for. There is a line, for me, between light and comfort, just have to find it before elk season.

Great link brad, lots of good other gear links in there also, I\'m looking for a decent sleeping bag for my dad when we go to alaska in sept, they have some good info on bags in there.
