it\'s helpful.

some guy took some turkey hunting seminar. he was talking bad about a couple of fellow students. one person showed up with a gun with an improved cylinder..another improper turkey shotgun loads (not legal in some states).

i grew up under tyrannical rule from my older sister. it made me a judgmental person. my wife has managed to help me deprogram myself from that type of person.

i asked this person at the turkey class..why didnt you help the two newbies? instead of the eye rolling, and statements like \"some people dont have a clue\"..reach out and help.

i think it\'s difficult for some people to step outside of their comfort zone. to step into a turkey hunting class as a newb cant be easy. and YES, despite what people say, there is such a thing as a dumb question (hey, i\'m a judgmental person work in progress)..i try to handle them differently.

i think people join forums for different reasons. some to learn, some to show off elk photos..some to help. on some forums, some join to judge others..(rhymes with \"marchery balk\")

this forum is pretty damn friendly. until i tip an elk over with my bow..i\'ll be the newb.

it is a great forum. and your right, everyone has their own reasons. i joined to learn, but stay for the comraderie.

I have to agree with you as well. There is a reason I post up my archery questions here instead of some of the other forums. Lots of knowledgeable people here who are willing to help. I have to say that I come here to learn and to share what limited knowledge I have with others, which is probably pretty similar to everyone here. I feel like we have an online \'Cheers\' here, you know, \"where everybody knows your name.\" Where you can belly up to the bar in your own personal seat, share some BS and laughs with some good friends, and maybe come away feeling smarter than you were when you sat down. :D

Ive been a part of many sites and this is by far the most friendly.
We don\'t have trolls, know-it-alls, bullies, etc...

It says a lot when people on here are randomly meeting up with other BTO members and go hunting.
It\'s pretty cool!!!!!!

Outside of Russ and Buglemaster, I have never met anyone else on BTO. But I consider all to be friends. This is the only place I ever post. I\'ll help if I can and joke if I can. Just a great place to hang out! :upthumb:

Well Bill if I don\'t get my draw this year I will be heading back to CO and I stop and get my license and supplies in your town every year I believe. If you are not all ready gone we will have to meet up.

Coffee\'s on me Francis!

I\'m kind of selfish... I\'m here because I can\'t be there with ya\'ll... I really enjoy the folks here and all the pictures that are posted of all the wild critters we all enjoy... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Of course I\'m a lot like Bill and don\'t mind a joke here and there... :D :D

Until a few years ago I didn\'t spend any time on any forum. When I decided it was now or never if I was going to go after elk, I looked around for help and ended up frequenting a couple of websites. Ultimately this is the place I settled.

A while back when we had the short lived live chat I made an offer to some guys that were on that evening that if someone wanted to go after some turkeys to just come on by during the season. At the time I was thinking that probably no one was going to take me up on it! When they said they were coming I was surprised and my wife asked if I knew these guys. When I said no she just said, what have you just done? Ended up that we had a great time and and I don\'t think I could find guys more like-minded if I spent years looking.

So, yes, I think there is a difference in this place compared to the others. Also, as the newbie elk hunter, I\'m learning there as well.

To those out there that tune in to learn as I did, there are a lot of benefits to interaction!

Besides, here in Kansas we get a kick out of hearing how \"Minnesota\" is really supposed to sound when using it in a sentence!

This forum reminds me of a duck hunting forum I was on a long time ago... That was when I was young  and hunted ducks ever day of the Arkansas season... I met several folks on that forum and kinda like mainebrdr I opened my mouth with the same type statement... If you hunt ducks and you\'ve never heard of the \"Wabbaseka Scatters\" you are kind of out of touch... That\'s where I hunt and it\'s very close to Stuttgart which is known as \"the duck capitol of the world\" (even though some have tried in recent years to call themselves that) witt the Scatters being the public flooded timber \"place to go\" and on most duck hunters \"Bucket List\'... Long story short I met a lot of good folks during those years and still Have friends from NC and SC that come hunt with us every year even though most of it is with the boys now...

So just for one I\'ll have to say when you meet folks of the same mind on a internet forum they are nearly always very good people... I figure if this forum was around back then some of you die hard elk hunters would have made a trip to Arkyville to hunt ducks in the flooded timber....  And you just might still be making that trip... :D :D

I really, really do enjoy what all of you have to say (most of the time :D ) and figure we could share a campfire together most anytime... :upthumb: :upthumb:

oooooo, flooded timber green heads! we cant sit around commenting on how we each talk funny

Speaking of talking funny :lolno: :lolno:

I came up with a new \"You Might Be A Redneck\" last night after seeing a commercial with the \"Cookie Monster\" talking to Siri...

You have to know this 1st... Siri, from day 1 has never understood a word I say... :D :D

\"If Siri can understand the Cookie Monster but can\'t understand you-----YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK!!!\"

I think I\'ll submit that one to Jeff Foxworthy for his consideration...

As the old saying goes... If the shoe fits....... :upthumb: :upthumb:

I\'ve never been much for social media but I was looking for some place to learn elk. This has turned out to be more than I could have hoped for and so far led to two great hunts with some likeminded hunters who enjoy the mountains as I do.

Here\'s the commercial I was talking about eariler... It seems like it follows me no matter what channel I\'m watching...

Redneck vs Cookie Monster.... I\'ll never win...
