As we enter the fall season, chilly weather soon follows.
I, like many of you, like to drink hot coffee in the mornings on my way hunting/fishing.

Here are some thermos tips

Cleaning:
Fill about 3/4 full with hot water, then drop a couple denture cleaning tablets in, put cover on, gently shake it up and let it sit overnight.
Dump out and rinse.
Clean!

Keeping the coffee hot:
Prior to pouring coffee into the thermos, fill it with boiling water and let it sit for 5 min.
[This will \'temper\' the inside of the thermos]
Dump out and immediately fill with coffee.
Your coffee will stay hot for a loooong time.

Keeping the coffee hot II:
If you are headed out ice fishing or to your deer stand when its really cold, put your thermos in a heavy wool sock.
This will insulate the thermos even more

These are a few tips I use to enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

If anyone has more, please share!

A thermos can be used things other than coffee... When duck hunting in the cold we normally take a thermos or 2 of coffee but also take at least 1 thermos with hot soup... A cup of hot soup is a treat when the ducks ain\'t flying too good... When the younger grand boys go there is a thermos of hot chocolate in the mix too...

i think most of the heat escapes out of the neck..where the drinking cup goes.

AND..a couple of carefully wrapped breakfast burritos fit in a big thermos end to end. wrapped in foil. stays warm for hours. jus saying.

Cliff!!!!
That is such a great idea!

I\'m stealing it. :upthumb:

I\'m hunting with Cliff!!

Bet we could get some green chile in one and posole in another....

I got a Yeti coffee mug that works really well but doesn\'t seal like a Thermos.

Haha.

Somebody just told me a can of beer will fit thru the hole of a camelback bladder. Ice, water.....the possibilities! :D

Never knew about denture cleaning tablets and always have a heck of a time cleaning the inside.

Thanks

Not really a thermos tip, but somebody has to side track this thread! :wtf: So hear goes! If you wrap a brats or a couple of hotdogs in tin foil and place them on the intake manifold of your truck as you are driving around, you\'ll have a hot meal in no time without having to stop and start a fire to cook it.

I like this one! :upthumb: I have warmed a mre on the dashboard with the defroster on and some sunshine. :)

I used to have one of these on my snowmobile.
Great for warming up burritos or hot dogs when out riding!
