I\'d venture a guess that a few of us drive 4x4 tacomas. Mine has been making me insane for months. It made an intermittent noise when cold. It was impossible to locate because just driving it 100 yards would make it go away for the day. Hot summer day, same thing. It was a grumbling sound, like when you move sheet metal around. Like distant thunder.

I greased the zerk fittings on my drive shaft. The noise is gone. I hesitate to post this in fear of pissing off some car deity. I think I got it! There are five nipples on the driveshafts that you can clip your grease gun to. Every 30k miles. More if you drive off-road. Especially thru water.
