Tracking in snow

I sure have John, but the snow needs to be soft. Crunchy snow is always a thorn in my side for tracking. It can be done, but you need to go so slow it\'s annoying.

I almost caught a small 6x6 last Sept in late bow season. unfortunately, he figured out that the bull chasing/calling him was the 2 legged version eventually.

I was within 30 yards of him at one point. very exciting, but fruitless, I\'m afraid.

I attempted it in 2013. Followed the bull tracks for nearly two miles (moving very slowly and cautiously)... and finally lost the track in a thick patch of dark timber. :(

Actually...I lost the snow LOL. The timber patch was so thick it had very little in it. :problem:

Here\'s what the two miles before it looked like:

Nothing more beautiful, serene, and quiet as a fresh blanket of snow in the morning.

I love to be in the mountains when it snowing. Everything is so quiet, and peaceful.

watching a calm (no wind) snowfall in the mountains is like watching God clean his dry-erase board. Except when He\'s done cleaning, it\'s prettier than before, somehow.

I love it.

my hunt unit is scheduled to get snow the day we arrive in camp, which will likely make a mess out of camp setup. I expect to like that part less......
